Porter beats Ugas to retain welterweight title
    March 9, 2019:

CARSON, Calif. -- In what was a highly unpopular decision Saturday night, Shawn Porter retained his WBC welterweight title via split decision over Yordenis Ugas. Porter won by scores of 116-112 and 115-113, while the third judge had Ugas winning 117-111.

As Porter was announced as the winner, loud jeers could be heard throughout Dignity Health Sports Park, as this was a verdict that will debated for quite a while.

Neither Porter nor Ugas really took control of the fight for long stretches. Many of the rounds could've gone either way, as Porter decided to box from the outside, while Ugas (23-4, 11 KOs) controlled the center of the ring.

The problem was that neither could sustain an offensive attack. At various times, the rather sparse crowd voiced its displeasure at the lack of action.

You can't come into a title fight, already having 3 losses, and then be cautious! Now, with 4 losses on his resume, he needs a rematch with Porter, or the fight with Bes***** that the WBA ordered in December 2019. Hopefully he's learned his lesson!
And how many shots has Danny Garcia blown?

You would rather be a Spence boy , is that what your saying ?, Hey listen up, Spence has got enough protection going on already, don't need no extra protection from another FAN BOY TRUST THAT.

Spence is just one of a long line of this eras protected black American fighter. Entitlement culture mentality destroyed boxing among the inner city.

Ducked Ugas blatantly two years ago now again . Coward Spence. His fans are the epitome of weak.

Judt google Spence ducks Ugas . Wanted you fight vargas instead. Joke

Why does Garcia deserve it more? He also lost to Porter.

Nice try Errol, go bullsh_t someone else!
Glad I'm not the only one that can see this shameful duck move from a so called pound 4 pound guy, that's definitely not champion talk, what a fraud.

I don't have a problem with it ONLY because he's got Garcia ,Pac and , Crawford in his sights.

Spence does have bigger fish to fry. Ugas is solid but can't punch. Spnece takes a fight against Ugas and beats him and this place will say that he was old, not good to start with, had too many loses already, it was a cherry pick, etc.

Then they will say that Spence should had fought this guy or that other guy.

What does undefeated have to do with anything? Ugas has a better resume right now than Spence did in 2015. A way better resume.

Spence, I was thinking, now is a great time to take the Crawford fight. During this pandemic, that means less people to see you crying when Crawford gives you your first loss.
