  • Comments Thread For: Spence: Ugas Is A Great Fighter; But Outside Of Hardcore Fans, Nobody Knows Him

Errol Spence Jr. considers Yordenis Ugas a worthy welterweight contender. Ugas nearly upset Shawn Porter in their 12-round fight for Porter's WBC title in March 2019. The Cuban challenger's split-decision defeat to Porter is Ugas' lone loss in his past 11 fights.

Too many articles about why guys aren't fighting. You'd think that guys would be itching to fight each other after this lockdown.

I would rather Crawford fight Ugas than Kell Brook! I just don't think Brook will be competitive @ 147!

Fair enough points from Spence; Urgas isn't a mandatory and doesn't bring enough $$ to make a voluntary defense worthwhile.

Urgas v Thurman eliminator for a mandatory ranking?

Lmao Sounds like Thurman talking about Spence back in 2015. Will the same people that criticized Thurman do the same for Spence?

With the exception that Ugas already has a loss to Porter (he actually has 4 losses), and Spence was undefeated.

Spence with the preemptive duck move. Dismissing Ugas before anyone starts asking for the fight. This is an advanced 4d chess move in ducking. Im surprised Crawford hasnt used it yet too, but even saying Ugas name would be high risk because he normally fights Lyft drivers so he cant say hes looking at bigger names than Ugas.

This is what happens when you are dangerous

Ugas 137 years old and still strike fear in these young champions. It has nothing to do with you not having a big enough name but everything to do with your pedigree and they really don’t want to take a chance on losing to an old man before making big money on easier fights. Nice try Errol, go bullsh_t someone else!

Yordenis Ugas no... Campo yes. Ugas isn't well known because you ducked him. Proof that signing with the PBC guarantees nothing.
