True, it's hard to turn down the big money and Thurman don't seem like a guy who listens to other people anyway. I like Manny but he was lucky to get Thurman at the right time.

Pacquiaos just a much better fighter and boxer. Even well past his prime, he had no trouble to UD Keith Thurman. Who I’ve never been wowed with.

The fight against Manny was the 2nd tune up fight plus a bonus payday. 2019 was his get-back year. He never considered him a real challenge. Real match-ups were supposed to be against Crawford and Spence.

It comes off like sour g****s. I guess it’s pride or ego for these guys when they lose. But you come off better when you just admit the other guy was better.
There are excuses and then there is admitting you screwed up. Thurman here is doing the latter. I agree with your admonishment about starting a sentence with 'I'm not making excuses' and then going on to make an excuse -- but at the same time, he doesn't do that.

He is effectively saying: I did this thing, it was ******, and I'm kicking myself over it. I can completely understand that. He is admitting culpability. He is not saying some external factor happened to him beyond his control and otherwise he'd have won.

I have no problem with a fighter owning up to a fault.

I like Thurman but it goes both ways, Thurman was lucky to get a 40 years old Pac instead of a 35 years old version.

                T-rex

Thurman “The Loud Mouthed” was high on drugs. He thought that he can beat the Great and Legendary T-Rex. He was shamed big time.
