Fighting Mosley after Floyd and after journeyman Mora drew with him was yet again phenomenal matchmaking.
Fighting DLH after losing to Floyd and having his orbital bone broken by Steve Forbes - a guy with like 14 losses and 5 KOs (no power) - at a weight Oscar hadn't made in 7 years...then on fight night Manny weighing MORE than DLH. Phenomenal matchmaking.
Fighting Margs after he gets TKOd and squeaks by a journeyman in a tuneup with a CW and rehydration clause...phenomenal matchmaking.
Roach is a good trainer and an even better matchmaker. Manny did his part though and delivered when he had to, but he definitely took certain fights at very advantageous times. And to pretend that doesnt matter just shows you have no personal experience with the sport. Losing and getting beaten definitely influences you.
That's why Manny took 1 whole year off before he fought Rios...he got slept and needed a long break.
That's why GGG took 9 months off after Canelo 2 and came back to a tuneup.
Taking losses and beatings DO MATTER and its reflected in the sport every day and historically

However, if Pac fights and beats Canelo....now you can actually make a case because that would be something. Unlike GGG, Canelo IS in HIS PRIME and has had success from 154-175 winning titles along the way. Fighting and beating Canelo right now at age 41 or 42 would be something special. Very special.
