Ortiz is one of the most mismanaged fighters in history with his skill set and pedigree he should’ve been a star!

It also hurts that he started out late in the pro’s!

Hopefully he somehow becomes champ, he was the better boxer than Wilder for most part in both fights and was winning both without the knockdowns easily!

Been ducked by Miller, Whyte twice, Joshua back when he was the mandatory and AJ chose a listless Takam instead, Wilder when he was younger, and a host of other’s!

He might have one last good performance in him I’m afraid!

2 guys in their 50's fighting each other. Fair enough.

That's what hurt his career the most. Couldn't get cowards in the ring with him. I still remember the hype surrounding Wilder-Ortiz talks initially kicking off. I ALSO remember all the praise Ortiz was getting prior to that fight and the "Wilder will lose and get exposed" talk. Then Wilder knocked him out. And it switched to "he was OLD MATE" and "THE RUFF CHEETUHD MATE." So Wilder rematched him and knocked out an even better version of Ortiz. Again. Kinda strange how daggum harps on rematches all the time yet refuses to give Wilder his props for that.
                Tougher Schedule:
                Ortiz-Fury-Brezeale-Ortiz-Fury
                vs
                Takam-Parker-Povetkin-Ruiz-Ruiz

Seems like you don't understand what the word mandatory means, in the context of world championship boxing.

"A sanctioning body will often rule that the champion must take on a specific opponent. This fighter is known as a mandatory challenger. "

"If the champion turns down the fight, they are forced to vacate the title."

Here's everything you need to know about boxing titles, from the major sanctioning bodies to mandatory challengers and unification fights.

A champion can't duck a mandatory challenger, if he wants to keep his title, and he can't choose his own mandatories either.

Ortiz is nothing special and never has been.
