By Cliff Rold - With so many belts around, the idea of champions can get watered down and not just by the WBA. It's almost certainly one of the reasons pound-for-pound ratings gained so much more heft in the marketplace in the last two generations. It was a way to cut through the chaff. That doesn't mean there still aren't men who exemplify what a champion...

Listen, this bum Vasily Lomachenko is only #1. at lightweight because the other green champions have just begun developing: Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, have just won world titles AFTER Bumchenko got lucky when he beat a old glass-jaw Jorge Linares for the top spot at 135.

The lightweight division was barren of any formidable contenders when Lomachenko arrived, no competition. Vasily came along to cherry-pick this weight. So what if all of Lomachenko's opponents at lightweight have been rated in the top ten by TBRB? Luke Campbell, Anthony Crolla are rubbish ; Anthony Crolla retired after his loss, this gives us the true value of Loma's win over the overachiever. Jorge Linares went on to get KO ( AGAIN ) by Pablo Cesar Cano -- who the hell is that?! Maybe Cano give Loma a better test.

Loma's wins at lightweight are not as good as they appear on paper.

except they are Loma is a natural featherweight fighting at lightweight against all bigger longer stronger top ten boxers in the division and dominating he has dropped or stopped everybody he fought Linares is a 4 time 3 weight champion who was undefeated for five years and ducked by Mikey and Loma got injured at the start still stopped him being outweighed by atleast 15 pounds probably 20 pounds then Pedraza was right after surgery no right hooks used was careful with the shoulder still dropped him twice only had 13% of punches landed on him weightdrained Jose landed double the amount of punches on Tank in half the rounds then Crolla who Loma did not want to fight he wanted Commey but he was injured so he was forced to fight his mandatory former champion Crolla and dropped and stopped him easy didnt even get hit under 10% then Campbell Olympic gold medalist in his home country with every physical advantage possible height reach length power size weight everything except age they were the same and Loma won almost every round dominated dropped him once almost stopped him but Luke went for the takedown to avoid getting stopped holding on to his legs to survive to the end all of these guys were much bigger than Loma and had every physical advantage over him all in the top ten now Lopez fought Commey who Loma was supposed to fight but still beat him after injury whatever and Haney never beat anybody to be champion he was still interim but got elevated when Loma got upgraded to franchise to make the Lopez fight for undisputed

Unfortunately you are arguing rationally with someone I've yet to hear give a single rational thought on boxing. He's set in his opinions and no amount of reason, logic, fact or rationality will change them. Easiest to just agree with him that Loma is a bum and move on to someone you can have a sensible discussion with.

You bothered reading that wall of text? I surveyed the post and easily have shut all of his points many times over on the boxingscene. Lomachenko is fighting at his natural weight and struggling, he has been fighting as a lightweight many years before he ventured into the professional ranks. Bumchenko won gold in the aforementioned weight-class, moreover, Vagisil Bumchenko fought in the World Series of Boxing as a lightweight.

Luke Campbell is trash, Anthony Crolla retired because he was done and never was a threat even in his prime. As mentioned, Jorge Linares is food for anyone because he has a glass-jaw.

Which divisions have quality is always debatable but it's still preferable to have all top ten guys in a divisional run. If he goes straight to Two next, that's five for five. Relative to what is available in his weight, hard to ask for much more.

it is well known that Loma fought above his natural weight in the amateurs as did Usyk to challenge themselves and get ready for the pros as stating in the Ukrainian Olympic boxing team documentary but lightweight in the amateurs is the same as featherweight in the pros they dont cut weight

Loma is the smallest lightweight by far in size the commentators in England said he looks like a featherweight from the front and a flyweight from the back and not struggling he is the only lightweight to either drop or stop all of his opponents who all are in the top ten by the way for sure
