    1. that wasnt his first fight at 135

    2. floyd was the a-side fighter moving up and the favorite, santa cruz will be the b-side guy and underdog moving up, completely different dynamic

    3.

This guy has a better chance of knocking out his next future ex-girlfriend than a boxer in the ring.

If we are talking about super strong resumes vs a fighter who debuted in 2013. LOL

Here are the last 5 fights:

          Yuriorkis Gamboa

          Ricardo Nunez

          Hugo Ruiz

          Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar

          Francisco Fonseca

            And?

No one is **** measuring resumes except you. I got no dog in that fight & think it's a silly thing to argue 99% of the time cuz in today's boxing world anyone's resume can be made into a dumpster fire of one tries hard enough.

I'm simply saying Ryan has the most to prove still. Ryan has had 2 real fights. And not unlike Devin he did better than expected in those 2 step up fights, but he's not even won a paper title yet.

You call it a paper title then act like it has merit, which one is it? Or does it only have merit for certain fighters?

Haney literally got handed the title, it literally means nothing.

It is a paper title. No one at 135 is The Champ til they beat Loma. That said having a paper title has more merit than not having a title at all, paper or otherwise. Not sure why that's confusing to you.

I have been as critical as anybody about the development of Davis' career but it's not like I'm rooting for the guy to fail. I hope he does use all the criticism he's received as motivation to train ahrder and take his career more seriously. One thing that confuses me though, he says his coach is more than a coach and is like a father figure to him but what life lessons is he teaching him? He acts like a total fool outside the ring!

Because when its handed to him in the mail it doesn't mean anything.

I get you really want to say Haney has proven something and is a “champion”, but he really hasn't done anything, and more than likely will never do so.

At least Garcia is in prospect building phase while Haney is pushed as a “champion”.

And at the end of the day, he will be the one to fall short, though I have a feeling he is going to be very protected going forward(he already is) as he is the least talented of the group.

Actually, his paper title is even worse because they didn't trust him to get one officially the way Top Rank did Lopez.
