  • Comments Thread For: WBC Prez: Mayweather Fight Could Have Ended Canelo's Career

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman says Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez could have very well ended his career in 2013, when he took a big step up in class to fight Floyd Mayweather.

On the contrary it made his career step into another gear.

Floyd schooled him more mentally than he did physically, he never got beat up but he was touched solid all night in a precision lesson he will never forgot.

Canelo is a strong minded guy that fight matured him a lot.

Read the article. Excuses, revisioned history, and WBC making it clear they're in Canelo's back pocket again.
Canelo will have an easier path to achieving whatever it is the WBC is strangely so concerned about him achieving as long as they're changing rules and creating belts for him. He won't have to face tough mandatories. So he'll always have the 50/50 probability of beating a champion in every fight on his side that no other fighter in history before him was granted. Given his string of very su****ious decisions though id raise that to a 70/30 chance.
Canelo was 23yrs old, the unified SWW champ, ring champ at SWW, #9 0n the p4p list, had already beaten Austin trout, Shane Mosley, Carlos Baldomir, and came in the size of a running back against Floyd. He wasn't too young. Unless every other Boxer at 23 years old is/was too young, in which case they shouldn't be professional fighters until whatever age is deemed old enough by these clowns.

Canelo a real life Saiyan from DBZ, every fight he gets in whether he lost or if its really competitive, he just gets better and evolves!

In the Kovalev fight he showed he can be a patient but aggressive come forward pressure fighter but still defensively responsible!

Loved how when Kov tried to throw his signature 1-2 and Canelo would either slip an roll and counter to the body and or counter the 2 with a left hook!

His best years is upon us, if he beats Saunders, Plant, Benavidez, Jermall Charlo and go back up to 175 and beat Beterbiev for the unified titles, then he could instantly retire in good faith of his legacy and being in the same group as other ATG and especially among Mexican greatest fighters!

Sulaiman is such an ass kisser. He just wants his cut of the Canelo gravy train whenever he fights, from sanctioning fees.

WBC guy needs to shoot his shot with Canelo already & quit the unending foreplay.

Pretty pointess statement unless he's trying to nosh his way into Camp Canelo.

I've read some bizarre articles on the fight but reality is it was just another fight for Mayweather. Canelo was 23 and people saying he was too young is a joke. He had plenty of experience and he thought he could beat the best man about. He couldn't, he got a boxing lesson and that's all to it. It's seems as everyone else is making more of it..

For someone in such a high position to cream over someone who is classed as a drugs cheat is quite disturbing

That was just a lesson in the fine art. The boy lost every minute not just every round. The good thing is he was taught a boxing lesson and he picked stuff from there which is good. He learnt defence, moving his head and upper body, some shoulder roll and bits of the Philly Shell. If he wasn’t so heavily built he would have learnt foot work as well but when your feet are made of lead that’s a non starter.
