I think Mayweather's father asked DLH for $2 million initially

Don King had super shady legal speak to get around the promoter max. He used his son I believe to rob Tim Witherspoon. The son was also listed as a promoter, so they got 30% each, plus there were other fees attached. Witherspoon ended up with 250k out of a purse worth millions.

Rest In peace Roger, but Floyd didn’t really have a trainer. He handled himself, and didn’t need anyone to help him with strategy, in the ring or out of the ring. I’m not sure there is another fighter that flew solo to the the degree that Floyd did. Roger held the mitts and doubtless contributed to a focused camp, but I can’t imagine that he, or any other trainer, made 10% of Floyd’s purse once he watched a high level.

Mayweather seemed to be employing a lot of people. There was a former fighter he employed, who could not fight anymore 'I remember a 24/7 segment on this individual, he was a former heavyweight'.

              Floyd did things differently

Waking up very late for a boxer at 230pm

First physical activity after rising is fighting

He’d go to the gym and hop right into sparring. No warmup at all

Floyd believed in being as fresh as possible for fighting

Roadwork was done at night instead of mornings unlike other fighters

Floyd Mayweather seemed to design his own training programs from empirical evidence that he had view throughout his life. There are afew athletes like that in sports, Herchel Walker being another one 'Carl Froch also did this for the large majority of his career in some parts early on'.

So you are right Mayweather did devise his own training programs, when he would do roadwork, wake up, his calisthenics, gym exercises and how he sparred. It seemed like Roger Mayweather would than just talk strategy with him and possible make suggestions on training which then Mayweather would decide on 'I think Floyd Mayweather Senior may have tried to implement his own designs more than Roger Mayweather'.

Muhammad Ali was another fighter who basically devised his own training programs, Angelo Dundee was his head doctor/mind coach, and mediator.
