Comments Thread For: Francis Ngannou Reacts To Dillian Whyte, Open To Boxing Match

Feared UFC heavyweight puncher Francis Ngannou has reacted to the recent statements that were made by Dillian Whyte. Whyte was a professional kickboxer and became a two-time British heavyweight champion by winning the BIKMA super heavyweight British title and the European K1 championship. He had a 20-1 record under K-1.

"I have called Ngannou a coward because, for a guy who is 6'4 and 18 stone, he has not shown enough heart in his two defeats."

He probably threw the Lewis fight, it looked ridiculous. Unfair to criticise him for losing to Stipe though. Hes only guy to guy the distance with Stipe in the last 5 years.

Wouldnt surprise me if Whyte managed to get himself KTFO by Ngannou under MMA rules tbh. Ngannous style wouldnt translate anywhere near as well to boxing rules though, plus hes got a ****ty gas tank.

If Ngannou started training boxing full time 10+ years ago I think he'd have a legitimate chance to win a HW title but at his current age he has no shot at beating any champions or top contenders

Whyte batters him like a criminal without breaking a sweat.

LOL I called it at the time! Ngannou didn't even know who Whyte is!

Is Frank well paid in te UFC? I know he's a bit of a draw but I'm not sure where he ranks. I'm of the feeling Whyte would get him paid but if he's a major player in the UFC HW division then I guess not.

Which leads me to wonder, given MMA is promotional based and boxing isn't, why don't mid-card MMA guys call out big names in all combat sports? It makes sense for a mid-carder in boxing or kickboxing to not want anything to do with champions in MMA because they're coming from specialized version. An MMA mid-carder coming into boxing just needs to work on one aspect of his game a bit.

Mid card guys call out champions in their own sports but never try to get paid outside. They scared? Of what I wonder? Listen, Usman and Canelo would both beat the **** outta my scrub ass, but, I'd rather take that Nelo beating than Ussie cause Canelo will get me paid.

I understand why a talented upcomer wouldn't risk it, but plenty of guys are no hopers just trying to get a title shot and retire. Why not try for that shot in any sport? Someone might grab you up and get you paid and even if they don't what's so bad about being the guy who calls out any man in any sport? Seems like good marketing all around to me.

I love MMA more than boxing now, but let's be serious - that crazy KO power that Francis shows will be completely diminished with 10 oz. gloves. And Francis will never take a legit top 10 Heavyweight's power.

                  True.

His story is interesting though he did want to get into boxing but by the time he found a gym he was already in his late 20s and the owner convinced him MMA would be his ticket to success.

The guy is a natural talent though, just his life circumstances didn't allow him to start anything early.

Has anyone actually conducted a study on whether the size of the glove lowers the KO power?

The bigger boxing gloves allows you to use them more as a defensive tool than the small MMA gloves, however there is technically more mass in a boxing glove and mass x acceleration well you know the rest.

Also there are more KOs in MMA because fighters can't just focus on protecting their heads from punches when there are other forms of attack coming their way they have to prepare for.
