But if there was to be a home grown Mexican to fight Ruiz they will ask Ruiz not to wear the Mexican flag. The way they treated De La Hoya just shows what they think about Mexicans born and or bred in the diaspora.

He definetly considers himself American but respectis his Mexican heritage, just like most Mexian-Americans. Matter of fact, even other Hispanic ethnicities respect their ancestor´s homeland even if they were born in the US or came at a young age. Look at Teofimo Lopez, borna and raised in Brooklyn, 2nd generation Honduran, he uses the flags and tries to say a couple of words in Spanish which is not his first language.

There was a law in the Mexcian Constitution that forbids someone from wearing it, matter of fact, Julio Cesar Chavez never wore the Mexican flag on his trunks. That´s it. We are proud of our heritage, the Mexican-Americans more so. Hispanics in general, by the way.

We have a lot of non-British born fighters and fighters from immigrant communities. Some (like AJ) are very much connected to their roots and country of origin, but they all wear the Union Flag with pride into the ring.
