So nice to see how things in life can come full circle. The cartel went from threatening Oscar's life to him becoming their #1 customer. As for the former president of Mexico not wanting Oscar to wear the flag, it's typical that Mexicans don't consider people born in America to be real Mexicans. That combined with the fact that he was using an old Chavez to enhance his own status wasn't appreciated I'm sure.

Organised crime has always been a part of the fight game and undoubtedly still is. We imagine the Cartels or any of the other criminal organisations with a stake ain't interested in maximising their income or employing intimidation, bribery or other illicit methods to do so?

For as popular as he was, ODLH actually got screwed quite a bit on the cards. Plenty of folks thought he should have gotten the nod against Mosley and Floyd and only island Puerto Ricans think he lost to Tito. He definitely beat Quartey too, but poor Sturm got screwed, that's true.

ODLH had a big age advantage in their fights, but JCC wasn't super old (33) in that first fight. The truth is that Oscar had big size, speed and power advantages over Chavez as well. Even a prime Chavez would have had his hands full with that version of De la Hoya.
