At least katie taylor has fought her way past the limited number of credible challengers to be undisputed lightweight champion .( on paper anyway ) of course she should fight persoon who in my mind and many others beat her , if she can legitimately beat her next time then yes she's the greatest lightweight of all time

Most of these guys were prospects until recently talking Davis Lopez Haney Garcia they all had one or maybe two fights that started people talking possible time to become contenters the way I saw it anyhow. Funny how this article about the best fighting the best flows riight into how Hearns is talking about boxing becoming more evenly matched in the future with a cut in pay and without fans in the stands. coincience I know that. Arum talking the same way forget the softer fights time to get real now. Also. Not sure if he TH is just using the lightweight devision as an example of boxing accross the board or what. Of course everyone wants to see the best fighting the best. It is all about keeping boxing relevant and on the minds of fight fans as time and the Pandemic pushes on ................Comment

Would love any combination of Haney/Lopez/Tank/Garcia throwing down. That being said, these online beefs are cringe-worthy--wake me up when these guys get off Twitter and decide to start mixing it up in the ring. I think the younger crop @ lightweight are talented as hell, but Loma is the final boss when it comes to 135. These guys look the part of future P4P mainstays, but these divas would be better suited just staying in the lab instead of beefing online during a quarantine. That's why I'm digging dudes like Ennis & Ortiz Jr who just go about their business, go to the gym everyday & don't chase clout.Comment

There are only two lightweights currently that are willing to fight the best:
Lomachenko
Luke Campbell
The rest are all talk and in it for the money, or street cred. Lomachenko would win this round robin easily, despite having the handicap of being a natural Featherweight, fighting out of his weight class. That’s a true measure of his greatness.
Lopez looks like the real deal, but is a true Welterweight fighting at lightweight. Haney & Tank Davis are two entitlement fighters whose belts were handed to them. Unwilling to fight any top guys. No heart or work ethic. Garcia has potential and might be a poor man’s Oscar De La Hoya, but again has that entitlement mentality, although not as deeply rooted as Davis & Haney.
Lomachenko will continue to be ducked, as the big three weight bullies of Haney, Lopez and Garcia will make excuses about moving up, while Tank is just a flat out coward.Comment

Could be the best division in boxing if Bob , Oscar and Hearn could all work together and do a tournament!
Lopez vs Haney for the WBC/IBF title
Campbell vs Fortuna for interim WBC title
Loma vs Commey for the WBA/WBO title
Ryan Garcia vs Linares for the WBC silver titleComment

You know what would solve this mess with a quickness?
Having only one world champion per division.
That way if you wanted to be the man you would actually have to beat the man first.Comment

I think all the belts is fine in bringing the best fighters to light, I think once you win a belt you have to fight another belt holder and unification bouts should be 15 rounds. The many belts still are being fought but the Gold belt is the champion over them all and he must only fight one of the belt holders.
This way you have something that really means World Champion, you do not stifle the top fighters working their way to win a belt and so get a 1-3 chance of fighting you 15 rounder with the Champion.Comment

It is the best to have one champion, but it limits the career of so many guys trying to get a title shot, when its only one he can tie up belt for 10yrs which can shut out too many guys.

With only one world champion (and one set of rankings) being in the top 10 would actually mean something. All the best fighters would still come to light.
And with only 1 champion the promoters and tv networks would have no choice but to make fights with each other.
The way it is right now with 4 belts it makes it easier for everyone to hide out on their side of the street and avoid risk.Comment
