The short answer is overlooking/ignorance with a dash of laziness

You can read the rest of this post if you're interested how I got here, but, yeah, in short, lazy/****** like most mistakes.

I cobbled this list together by taking from the respected source per eras. So, bare knuckle, that's all CBZ/IBRO, it wasn't hard to combine their efforts into one complete BK list. Ancient? Church records and Olympic foundations for a complete Olympians list.

From there, with those names and dates I learned new names and dates.

True for every era, except, there is an arrogance that come with your own era isn't there? At least for me.

As you get into the contemporary end of my list, that's mostly Wiki. Just lazy copy and paste work.

Because, I felt like I knew it, honestly. I felt like I knew Lennox Lewis, for example, because I'm like 13 when he's, you know, the Lennox Lewis, and I remember being 13 just fine.

It's only recently I've been picking up I don't know those guys like I know guys I've researched. I know them on kind of a casual level....because I was like 13 when they were active and have not done any real research into them since.

I've watched, but not learned if that makes sense.

I think we all start watching present boxing and work our ways backward from there, but, research I started with early boxing and worked my way forward.

I'm not knowledgeable enough, actually, to speak to Briggs and Old Foreman like I can Marciano, Dempsey, Johnson, Ali, Young Foreman, or anyone else who came before my time.

So

you caught me just in the middle of doing research into eras that just passed not even a full lifetime ago.

I'm pretty sure I learned about Briggs-Foreman for the lineal within a year from now. QueensberryRules mentioned it quite a few months ago, but certainly not a full year ago. I've not updated the list in years though. I mean, yeah, Ruiz is there but that takes seconds and I did it when I posted this. I mean my list on my PC has not been worked on in about two years. I didn't take that info Queenie gave me and add it 'cause I been a lazy ****.

I have a Lewis vs WBA thread in History right now because I am currently looking for perspective from guys a bit older who were more mature when it happened.

Just got me at a good time really, I don't usually update my list until I'm comfortable with an era, late 80s-early 2000s I'm doing currently.

So, like I said, I overlooked the entire era for years, arrogantly believing I was beyond research because of having lived it, then after I did learn of Briggs-Foreman and stuff like that I just haven't gone through and found the exact years and added them in.

Like I said in the first post, it's not meant to be everything, not yet anyway, it's meant to be a good start for anyone wanting to learn more about any particular era.
