Comments Thread For: ESPN Broadcast Team Vehemently Opposed To Remote Judging

A recent proposal for judges to score fights from a remote location is not at all going over well with the boxing community. It also doesn't figure to be part of ESPN's plans for its upcoming televised events. The suggestion has been made by the World Boxing Council (WBC), who introduced the plan to BoxingScene.com and other media outlets during a recent panel discussion regarding essential personnel on hand for boxing events.

This remote judging system is going to reflect the NSB RBR thread scores

              Judges

Each judge should get a different side of the ring.

Sheit, with some of the cards I've seen, you could put them in a dark, soundproof booth and get the same scores.

Seriously though, you'd think this is something that eludes their comprehension...

Best idea in some time. This gives all of the judges the same angle (like in diving, gymnastics, etc.). It allows for QUALITY CONTROL. It eliminates the built in excuses for judges seeing it from a different angle. If there is a divergent scorecard (ahem..118-110 ms byrd...) then those judges can be excused from the occupation. If they are all such good judges, then they should be able to score the fight identically from identical vantage points. I have pushed this for years.
