He did it his way, won titles in different divisions, didn’t lose a fight, beat some HOF’ers, got out of boxing safe with minimal damage to his body and brain, and earned millions of dollars. Can’t hate on that at all. He should be happy with his career. Of course people will find fault with it, that’s only human nature. But a lot of fighters would love to earn what he did and have minimal damage.Comment

I can't hate on his success. He used the sweet science, be successful and take the least amount of punishment possible. Guys like Morales, Corrales and Castillo put on exciting brawls in their careers, but their is damage during and after those careers. Was Floyd the most exciting? No. Did he execute the sweet science beautifully? Yes, in most fights. If I had his money I could stay in this crappy lockdwn until I die lol. And help those less fortunate of course.Comment

With the stock market dropping and Mayweather’s spending habits, he wants to fight again. He is letting things simmer for now. But we’ve all tasted this before.Comment

Hatton, Calzaghe, Michael Nunn, Tyson etc all these guys used to jist party to cope. Floyd flexes in the media lolComment

My argument with Floyd is that there has never been anyone better at boxing than him. Greatest defense ever, most complete fighter, definitely the smartest. Dominated 20 years straight with no losses 50-0 vs 25 world champions. I can’t think of anyone better when it comes to all aspects of boxing in one person. Therefore he’s the “best ever”. Not the most fan friendly or most popular, but the BEST when you look at total package.
I love SRL and I respect Durán, and I know people love nostalgia so Floyd probably won’t be viewed like those guys for another 10 years but I can’t put either one ahead of him. Leonard retired in the middle of his prime, lost to a Lightweight, struggled in almost all his big fights, and I thought Hagler beat him as well. That’s not to say he’s not a legend in the sport but Floyd wouldn’t have let a smaller man get in his head and fight him like an idiot and lose like he did. Floyd was a smarter fighter than SRL and would have beat him if they fight. I respect Ray but he also didn’t fight Aaron Pryor and a lot of people thought he lost to 2nd Hearns fight. He was a great fighter, but no Floyd Mayweather who dominated the best of the best for 20 years!
As for Durán another great fighter but he didn’t accomplish as much despite having a million fights. Not to mention he embarrassed himself and quit in a fight he wasn’t even taking punishment in and lost 13/15 rounds to Wilfredo Benitez who was basically a poor mans Floyd Mayweather who was very talented but said himself that he barely trained for his fights. He has a lot of great wins too but for me him quitting against SRL is a huge black mark. And Ray was hittable so just imagine how frustrated RD would get against TBE. I respect him but how anyone can put him above Mayweather is beyond silly to me. It’s just nostalgia and people not liking Floyd. People romanticise the fighters of the past but the reality is that boxing has evolved and skill wise Floyd is the best ever. There probably will never be another fighter who dominates the sport like that at the top level for basically 20 years without a loss. Not for a very, very long time anyway. Nobody else has ever done it like that. Across 5 weight divisions too.Last edited by JK1700; 05-10-2020, 02:12 PM.Comment

Pfft I guess we’ll agree to disagree. I give respect to Ali and SRR because those guys paved the way for a guy like Floyd Mayweather. They were the greatest of their time and there’s no Floyd without those guys. And this is why it’s hard to have a definitive winner for the greatest fighter. The way I look at it is legacy vs skills. Legacy wise nobody can compete with Ali. He’s bigger than boxing. So in that sense people can say he’s the “greatest” ever because greatness can be a whole bunch of things and Ali was great for boxing, and stood for a great cause which helped a lot of people. He deserves all the respect in the world for that. He’s a legend and everyone agrees about that.

Floyd was the best of this era without a doubt but I dont see how he beats someone like Duran. I think he does better with SRL than Duran. I think Floyd beats Hearns, Pryor, Pernell (obviously the sparring rumors), JCC, etc but I cant see him topping Duran. Durans aggression was not only effective but also smart.
Floyd may have the most skills out of any fighter ever, that's true. And saying someone is Top 10 EVER is not an insult at all. I mean everyone from 1-10 is interchangeable anywaysComment

Floyd has to keep telling us this over and over again. You didn't fight Pacquiao and so many other guys in their prime. Never left the country for fights, made a mockery and circus out of boxing with the McGregor fight and you actually lost to Castillo and received a gift. Sit your irrelevant ass up and let your fighters shine, pu55y.

You have got to be kidding!!! You will say you enjoyed a Mayweather fight more than Vargas vs Salido, Vargas vs Miura, Mathisse vs Molina, Bradley vs Provodnikov, Marquez vs Pacquiao (all fights), Marquez vs Diaz, Marquez vs Vasquez, Corrales vs Castillo. The list goes on and on. Unbelievable!!! This ****** sewer rat brought nothing exciting to the fight game at all!!Comment
