Yes but you are ignoring some VERY important FACTS. First, Arum definitely is hurt by losing Floyd, but he still has Cotto who is already bigger than Margarito (so why does he HAVE to build up Margarito). Second maybe he actually was offering up 8 million because both Arum and Margarito realized it could still be a smart move LONG TERM. If Margarito fought Floyd he would get much needed exposure, and if he looked good he would definitely be in for some big money fights down the road. And again I NEVER said that Floyd should fight Margarito because he (or Baldomir) because those were the two best options RIGHT NOW.

I think what I am trying to say is that I would rather see any fight basically but against Cory Spinks (and that includes Margarito). Personally I thought he should fight Baldomir and become the recognized champ, but Hatton, DLH, Cotto, Jose Rivera, Mosley etc. would have been fine. It just looks like Floyd has targeted a safe opponent that happens to hold a title. I can't imagine that Floyd would have taken a fight against Karmazin had he beaten Spinks. Furthermore I think it is quite significant that he lost to Antonio Diaz and Picirillo (bad decision but good fighters wouldn't have left it up to the judges). Margarito doesn't have any big names on his resume and he wouldn't make PBF the all-time greatest fighter ever by beating him. But it would show media and fans that he is still willing to take on dangerous (albeit unproven) fighters. I think we can agree that Spinks isn't a very big risk... right?
