If I remember correctly they had a rematch signed for late 2008 but once Oscar announced Floyd Sr. as his trainer Floyd “retired” until he came back to fight Marquez in September of 2009.

Nothing new or strange here. The Mayweathers are scumbags. I 'll give Lil Floyd some credit though for his loyalty but Sr. is just a total piece of shi.t.Comment

Pound-for-pound king and welterweight world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement from boxing Friday.
Nope I did remember correctly. The fight was signed and ready to go for 2008. Oscar announced Floyd Sr. as his trainer and then Floyd backed out a short time after. Many people around Floyd said it was because his a Dad was in Oscar’s corner. Not saying he was scared of his Dad’s training I think he didn’t want it to be a big story for the fight and he still had major beef with his Dad.
Oscar made the fight with Pacquiao instead and ended up being his last fight.Last edited by QballLobo; 05-08-2020, 11:24 AM.Comment

Floyd fought Oscar at his real weight of 154 with no catchweight. He was outweighed by Oscar over 15 lbs and used his boxing IQ to make Oscar miss all night. I don't care who could've trained Oscar,he wasn't as skilled as Floyd.Comment
