Who's been to Jimmy's Corner Bar?

Tell us some great legendary stories that you had drinking there.

Who did you see? Hang out with?

I remember ESPN would shoot Bert Sugar there giving his takes on the classic fights.

    REST IN POWER Jimmy!

I went there before. I didn't see anyone other than Jimmy. I was there on vacation in NY.

damn that sucks bro. thats prob one of my biggest pet peeves/fears going somewhere far away for one specific thing and its not even open when I get there.

thankfully thats never happened to me yet. hopefully it never does.

I Learn everything I know about boxing in Times Square Boxing gym. My trainer was Ralphy Correa. Jimmy Glenn was his trainer. So Jimmy was like ma grandpa in boxing. I’ve been there many of times. Ralphy would have me accompany him to help out with many errands like getting the posters up for upcoming boxing cards In Madison Square Garden or the Felt Forum. Sometimes we woul drop by before heading out to a fight out of town. Fact is I’ve been there more times as a fighter than as a patron. It was an amazing vibe. Come to think of it, the reason why I wouldn’t go there was because there was this unwritten rule in the gym. And that was to stay away from Jimmy’s Corner, you don’t want to go there drink & make a fool out of yourself cause then you would have to face jimmy. All the trainer in the gym knew this rule. Besides fighters shouldn’t be in bars. I’ve seen Roberto Duran, Héctor Camacho, Ray Mancini, Floyd Patterson, Rocky Graziano, Jose Torres, Gus D’Amato, Angelo Dundee, Larry Holmes ... so many fighters. Like I said during those times when a was fighter, I wouldn’t go there to hangout.
If it’s still open & your in town you should drop by.

                  Think Boxing!
