I’d say it’s the same amount of boxers who do BJJ well.

        None of them...

McGregor looked terrible from the clips I’ve seen. Fabio Maldonado is horrible too.

These guys work on a little of everything. Their boxing is modified to work in their world. But McGregor didn’t do too bad against one of the best boxers of all time. I know Floyd didn’t fight his fight and all that, but how many dedicated boxers can claim the same?

I genuinely haven’t watched it, as I knew it wouldn’t be competitive. I’ve seen clips and he looked very amateurish, I highly doubt he could even compete at domestic level which is not a bad thing as nearly every boxer would have the same issue if they crossed over to MMA. Look at James Toney.

MMA fighters are extremely skilled but their striking is very different than boxing.

It’s like comparing Rugby and American football IMO, they look similar but are very different at the highest level.

I wonder how someone like McGregor would do versus, say, a state champion boxer. He wouldn’t look good, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t win. A state champ would probably not have done as well versus Mayweather. Not that Conor did great, but most others would’ve done even worse. Polished skills are nice; but at the end of the day, it’s all about winning a fight.

Lots of them are good fist fighters. Some of the fights might just as well be boxing matches with tiny gloves and almost no kicking or wrestling. They just aren't as good with their fists as the top pro boxers but then nobody is.
