Wilder, Fury et al don’t need AJ....AJ needs them and the purse split needs to reflect that, I’d say a 85-15% split in the Gypsy Kings favour. After all Fury is known worldwide for being the undefeated champ of the planet. AJ best known for getting known for eating big right hands and getting KTFO by Ruiz.

AJ vs Fury would be a great way to bring boxing back after covid-19 but then again, why would Wilder or Pulev think their respective fights aren't? Who wants to spend what could be seen as a great event after a lock down, instead sitting at home with a step-aside check?

First off, Hearn ask how can Wilder and Fury be paid without the live gate? How can Fury and AJ be laid without a live gate? The whole world is at a stand still right now so nobody will be at the Fury/AJ fight if it came off.

Second, THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES IN BOXING when it comes to certain things. So let's play the what if game. Let's say Fury/AJ negotiate. There is going to be a rematch clause in the contract. That's guaranteed. And they could even do what Wilder/Fury did and that is the loser gets to exercise a third fight. So now you have Wilder, Pulev and Usyk waiting for a good while. BUT....

If i were Wilder and Pulev, i would bleed the investors/Hearn/Arum/Warren and all those involved to the tune of 25 million and i wouldn't budge. Even if i knew i couldn't gwt that much i would hold my ground. Why? In Wilders case, he has the belt he had defended ten times and lost it to a great fighter. And now he had the chance to get it back. Many people are suggesting Wilder take a tune up and work out the quirks with his new team he is bringing on board. And many are saying go right back at Fury. It's a gamble either way.

I say Wilder ia doing the right thing by going right back at Fury. He has nothing to lose here. If he wins, he gets his belt back and confidence at the same time. He has plenty of opportunities to take on tune ups. Or he just hang em up if he loses to Fury. He is not hurting for money.

The whole word is at a standstill right now. Right now, being the pertinent words. This fight isn't happening right now. The world is, however, starting to think about getting back a little closer to normality. If this fight happened, there would be negotiations, a training camp, the big media buildup... It wouldn't be happening for a while. And the Hearn/Joshua axis has a previously-trodden path of holding a big fight in Saudi Arabia, where live crowds might be more feasible than, say, the US, which is where Fury/Wilder would almost definitely happen.

Second, you say a rematch clause is guaranteed. But you also shouted in all caps THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES IN BOXING. It's an unprecedented fight for all those alphabetti spaghetti belts. And when it's unprecedented, we can't on patterns of the past. Given the possibility is being floated on the basis of Pulev/Wilder standing aside temporarily, it sounds like no rematch would be a pre-requisite for such a proposal?

Third, you ask what does Wilder have to lose? His career. Stepping aside, he would get millions and could probably milk a couple more fights against mid-tier fighters, build back his rep and then have another mega-fight with either Fury or AJ. And then end his career.

Ultimately, I do actually agree with your overall assessment that Wilder/Pulev stepping aside doesn't seem likely. Just don't agree with some of the specifics points you raised.

I don't think we'll be seeing any of these fights too soon, to be honest. Perhaps AJ/Pulev in some weird and (possibly) wonderful location.

Well I was kinda interested in what you'd like to see more. Its still the best match, do you agree? AJ got a beating from Ruiz, but he wasn't the same from round 3 on. He looked discombobulated and gassed from all that muscle. I'm sure he can do better than that. Much better than Wilder imo.

speak for yourself buddy. AJ had his chance at undisputed but played games during the first wilder negotiations than chose to fight Povetkin instead. Fury came out of retirement because in his words AJ didn’t want to fight wilder. Now all of a sudden AJ wants undisputed? Well he had his chance. Now he had to wait in the back of the que with his bum fight against Pulev. Best advice for U AJ fans: pray that wilder loses the trilogy. Because if wilder wins everyone knows you’ll be back to condoning the A side Anthony bs that got in the way of undisputed happening in the first place.
