I always thought it was Ortiz trying to be too slick for his own good. If it was ruled accidental, they would have gone to a technical draw. Threatening to rob Mayweather of his 0 and maybe get him off his game. Also, it wasn't the headbutt that caused the sucker punch. Ortiz definitely kissed Mayweather in the middle of a title fight. So, he wanted to get cute with the rules and Floyd showed him a thorough understanding of them. Protect yourself at all times. And there's no kissing in boxing.
Why Ortiz Headbutted Mayweather

You need to just listen to people who know what they’re talking about. It’s not about fighting dirty. I can go into depth of the psychology of this but you don’t seem to want to listen. He was lining up that head butt as early as round 2, playing with angles. To say he headbutted in round four as a way of getting out of the fight is simply not accurate.
Look up Ortiz’ first loss. A bum was tapping him in the clinch and then Ortiz overreacted with a sucker punch. Tell me if you think he was frustrated there. Tell me he was frustrated by a few love taps amid the beating he was administering. Because I’ll tell you right back that he simply doesn’t know how to behave in that scenario since he sucks at fighting dirty.Comment

Ortiz was an idiot but he was frustrated that Floyd was getting away with leading with those elbows when Ortiz got close.
Now Floyd always did that and it wasn’t called so Ortiz should have known that and been ready.
Ortiz just wasn’t mentally tough enough to stay in that fight. He was doing some decent work until he lost his mind. He thought he would run over Floyd like he did Berto and didn’t have a plan B when it didn’t happen.Comment

Not really sure what to tell ya, buddy. You seem like an okay guy. Good luck establishing yourself as knowledgeable with someone else. I’m open to criticism and being learned a thing or two but you ain’t the guy to do it.Comment

Buddy... let me try and help you better. Since my words aren't making sense to you.
In a fight if it's pretty close, and an opponent lands a shot that may seem effective.. one of my favorite things to do is see him get a little excited and go on the offensive... Let him open up some so I can slip and block and let him waste his energy.
It's such a deflating feeling when you're trying to make something happen and you can't do it. Watching them realize they can't do anything with you is a very dominating feeling. Ortiz was at his limit. Some figthers will continue on and try and make things happen. Those fighters have courage. Ortiz doesnt.
I'm trying to explain to you that Ortiz knew he was done. He wanted out of the fight.
I'm explaining this to a NON-fighter... I don't expect you to understand.Comment

Go look at Ortiz’ DQ loss.
I already proved you wrong. You’re yammering.Comment

Yeah I don't get all this "Ortiz was turning it up and giving it to Mayweather" stuff comes from. He was losing the round and the fightI mean, it was one decent moment in a round where Mayweather really put it on him. jFloyd was landing combos and turning it up. Plus Ortiz had already tried to headbutt Floyd once already.
I think he just realized what was going to happen and had a ******, frustrated moment.Comment

The butt ?
Why would they go to a technical draw when Floyd could clearly, and did continue ?Comment

That’s exactly how I remember it. Lots of people think u just need to bum rush Floyd. But he’s much stronger than most think. He’s very strong against the ropes too. Gatti stopped defending himself and looked to the ref, Floyd dropped him too. Floyd’s a pro. Ortiz internationally head butted Floyd twice. I don’t remember Ortiz stopping fighting after those on his own accord. The whole fight was disappointing, but it wasent Floyd’s Fault. Ortiz woulda most likely been DQd at sum point anyway. At least we saw a KO.I mean, it was one decent moment in a round where Mayweather really put it on him. jFloyd was landing combos and turning it up.
