None. I watch all the fights with my brother, both hardcore boxing fans. I wouldn't really want to bring a casual into the mix now and have to explain things, etc. Got a great set up as it is. Two of us, beers, food, big TV, it's all good. I don't know any other hardcore fan in real life. A lot of casuals who know Joshua, Whyte, maybe two or three more. One of them once asked me who my fav fighters were outside of the HW division and I said Canelo, Crawford and Golovkin, to which he replied, I've never heard of those, are they good? This guy is a massive Joshua fan, which to me seems weird that he knows nothing at all about boxing. Even casuals should know who the likes of Canelo are!
How many people have you turned into boxing fans?

Pretty much 95% of the people I have ether worked with, or associated with have been casually into boxing or maybe a little more deeper. The people that where not into boxing, sometimes they would come across me leading up to a big boxing event 'And I would just speak about the event to them'.
I have probably promoted boxing to women more 'Back when I was on social media, they would realize after awhile that I was into boxing' so usually in work they would take a interest etc
Note: These days it is only really here that I talk boxing 'I don't really care that much about what other people think, outside of the sport'.Comment

You get it a lot with the traveller boys. Did you go to Groves-Eubank? There was a major brawl at one point I think it was Isaac Lowe’s supporters who started it. I had a great (and safe) view from the upper bowl though.😂Ha ha, it wasn't a bad evening all in, genuinely surprised it didn't kick off worse though there were a coupla minor scuffles as I recall.
Tell you what man, I ain't been out to the fights since the lil'un was born back in '17, so I reckon I'm due - funds permitting. When all this COVID stuff's run it's course and the world gets back to something like normal PM me when you find yourself coming over Manchester for a fight next time and maybe see about meeting up.
Will do mate, Whyte-Povetkin is probably the only big’ish fight that was scheduled to be in Manchester. Not massively interested in that one but if the undercard is decent I’d consider going. With this CV19 though who knows when fans will be allowed back.Comment

Lmfao the face of boxing doeI had a group of friends in college I’m still friends with that used to get together for many fights. We’d split a PPV, go in on some beers and food and have a good time.
Now most of them watch UFC over boxing.
We had a fight party for Canelo/Kov but pretty much everyone was there to watch the UFC fight. No one knew boxing was on that night.Comment

All my younger friends are into UFC exclusively and are unbearable to put up with when they do watch ("Why are they wearing pillows on their hands?", "In a real fight an MMA guy would dominate", etc.)
Sometimes a few older friends come over when I order the big PPVs (Wilder vs Fury II, Pacquiao vs Thurman) and we always have a good time. But I don't think they'd ever be seeking out/ordering fights on their own.Comment

Nah like I say last time I really went out was before little Koba came along in '17 - been to a coupla local cards since to support mates but no significant events... if it's a fight with a bit of buzz I'll usually go to the pub for it. I'd defo be up for Whyte vs Sasha when (if) it comes around though, although something with some local talent might be preferable.. let's see what comes up.You get it a lot with the traveller boys. None. My dad turned me to boxing fan telling how he watched Ali`s fights and allowing me watching Tyson`s fights in childhood.
I still remember how I was allowed to watch Holyfield -Holmes and Holyfield -Foreman in the middle of the night..Comment

Hopefully I've made a few
I don't hype up fights/fighters though, too much expectation that can backfire. I will just describe the event in a neutral way and answer questions or provide context. I try to make sure the fights I invite people for will produce, I don't bother on others. Some of those people keep up at least casually - the ones who were already sports fans, became bigger fans, at least I'd like to think.
In college, we had HBO so I could do the fight party thing....and then I also brought all my boxing tapes and me and one of my roomates would chill and blow blunts watching old PPV's. He's a fan now
Boxing fight weekends in Vegas, that's an easy sell... especially during the Mayweather era...I took trips with various combination of friends and showed them the energy a fight night produces and they loved it and continued it on to Canelo weekends (although it's not the same as Floyd hype).
Just remembered I ran a boxing stream channel on JustinTV when that was around....would have maybe 70-200 peeps watching fights that I would select on a live stream with chat, I loved doing that and wish JTV never got bought out.Comment
