Giving up 80 bucks is something I feel. Giving up 40 bucks is something easy to do.

It all comes down to value for money. With the quality of fight cards the past few years $80.00 was putting up red flags in my mind. $40.00 is just like ordering a pizza.

Will you see double the buys? Cuz obviously that's the number you'd need to hit to make the same money. I'd bet no, but I'd be super curious to see it & see if fights doubled or more their expected buy rate & as a buyer I'd love to pay half price.

$40 or $80, people who want to pay will pay and people who grab and online HD stream don't check the prices anyway, not because it's a lot of money but because the business model is gross.
I'll have to rethink this. I've been buying PPVs to view fights I want to see.

Can't wait to see those $40 PPVs from Top Rank (not fuccking gonna happen).

Totally agreed. I could see $80 for a mega card with 2 good feature fights on the undercard, but we all know the $80 cards usually consist of garbage fights before the main event. They could get $80 if they had good quality fights throughout the card, but it's usually just the main event we are paying to see. Maybe get rid of 5 fights on the damn card and just have 2 good ones and charge $39.99 (HD). I like the DAZN model but I paid for a year and I got maybe 2 PPV level fights on it for the year before the virus so now I regret paying for a full year. I like the monthly subscription model though.

They are definitely taking the Americans paying fight fans as mugs. They are mugging them off with no lube. Some of the fights that they put on for those cards doesn’t even have great undercard fights.

This was recently tried and has been a failure. The PPV price for Canelo was lowered from 80 down to 20. The Jacobs fight under this 20 PPV fight did 600k viewers which would be seen as a failure if it was HBO PPV at $80.

This with Canelo coming off 2 of his biggest fights (ignore Fielding). Jacobs being a solid B side. Canelo being in the mainstream news due to his huge new contract.

Canelo had another high profile fight against a name fighter which did so well they did not bother to announce the number.

The alleged biggest or 2nd biggest fighter in the world had a fight to avenge his loss and again such a success they did not bother to release a number.

The two Canelo fights would be expected to do at least 750k if not a million on a ShoBox PPV or HBO PPV.

Now contrast that with Bob's guy. The 2nd Wilder v Fury fight did almost 3x the first fight. This at 80. This with Fury coming off a lackluster performance while drawing empty seats and small ratings.

Arum needs to realize that A) the streams never get shut down and B) viewers never get into any legal trouble - the ones showing the stream may get a warning or a fine or their web page removed or disabled but not the ones overseas but the viewers do not get into trouble, even the ones that require a login and are show in HD.

Yeah the $80 price tag for one PPV this day in age is outrageous. It doesn't matter how "great" the event is, it's still way to much for a one time showing. Movies cost $10- $15 I mean c'mon guys figure it out
