They have to. They were being overpaid as it was due to PBC driving up fighter pay, deadzone taking to even new levels. Fighters who fight insignificant fights ARE being paid too much. The side effect is you have the canelo’s of the world taking on cream puff opposition for $33m a pop....and that’s just one example.
They need to make pay comparable to their opposition.

It's just another harsh case of cannibalism

Back in the day, you didn't even have to worry about where to watch a ppv fight. It was only question of WHOSE party you were going to see it at.

No lie, I once actually showed up to a neighbor house I'd never spoken to previously (he was new to the block) with a few six packs. My beer got me the fight on a big screen, all I could eat carne asada right off the grill, harder liquor than I brought, a few telephone numbers for later AND a new friend.

Boxing needs to get back to that, back to one of the things that knit communities and people together.

$40 is extortionate nevermind $80. They wonder why they say they can't make enough to put some big fights on...

How about the fighters be realistic in the purses and the promoters/broadcasters be realistic in robbing the public...

There isn't a single star or match in boxing that's worth $80 plus on PPV. The best boxing skill match up that can be made in boxing today is Crawford vs spence and even that isn't worth that price tag.

People buy PPVs because they have some weird fetish for transferring their money to promoters of the most corrupt sport in the world.

I really mean that. They brag about it and insult you for not doing the same.

$40 or $80, people who want to pay will pay and people who grab and online HD stream don't check the prices anyway, not because it's a lot of money but because the business model is gross.

I hear ya man, but they needs to be paids i tells ya!

I always laugh (and cry a little inside) when i hear these boxers talk business and end with the "i need to provide for my family" while they already are millionaires. No what you mean is me and my family are used to a luxury lifestyle and you fans need to be paying $80 for a PPV.

My 2 cents ; PPV's should be $19,95 and guess what...im pretty sure you can still provide for your familyand yes it will mean that you can buy only 1 instead of 3 ferrari's. Hard times .... . . . ..

That’s the reason why sales tags aren’t rounded. saving is a part of life in a capitalist world. $39.99 is more gravitating than $79.99.
Ya I get that part of it . But boxing is a niche sport , most people who are gonna order the ppv are gonna order it either way and 40$ is still a lot of money for the average joe . Its not like the price change is guarenteed to draw in a **** tonne of casuals to the point where it more than doubles their potential sales to justify the price cut financially. Yes it gets the content into more homes , but at a cost of potential profit , and it's not guaranteed . If the goal is to just get it into more homes at a loss of what would normally be made may As well just put said ppv on regular TV .

I mean at the end of the day the goal is still to make the most money possible ......its business . Their only guaranteed benefit from cutting the price in half is precieved value to the consumer . And potentially higher number of ppv sold . Just the number of units sold.

The way to get the big fights into more homes is to put it on regular TV for nothing more than the channels subscription fee monthly. The apps don't seem to be doing the trick so far but that model is still very young .

The bottom line is fighters are being over paid and it is unsustainable . So here we are .

When Boxing gets back they need to put fights on Free TV because people are not going to be looking to spend money on PPV's anytime soon
