Comments Thread For: Arum: Even If Crawford & Porter Want It, How In The Hell Do You Afford The Fight?

By Keith Idec - Bob Arum wouldn't mind matching Terence Crawford against Shawn Porter. Crawford's promoter admittedly is more interested in putting together a more lucrative Crawford-Errol Spence Jr. fight, but Crawford-Porter is more intriguing to Arum than it was this time a year ago. Arum's opinion of Porter completely changed once the former...

Come on Bob, I’d pay to watch that, put that bîtçh on pay per view live stream or espn+ for 10$ a pop and watch it blow like a 2$ hôe!

Crawford vs Porter is must see tv, all action and excitement!

Arum is so full of ****. His excuse here is that after over 50 years experience in promoting fights he cant figure out how to make a fight between two of the top 5 welterweights profitable.

This is like the time how he said they couldnt make mayweather-pacquaio unless an entire new stadium was built and that the fight could only take place during mayweather's jail sentence so after he got that pushed back it was more excuses. MGM wasnt big enough for the fight but weird how several years later thats where they ended up fighting and no stadium was mentioned during those negotiations.

Sports are dead right now. Lets see how UFC 259 does, then you can get an idea of how people respond. It might not even happen.

$70-80 for Crawford and porter? Hell to the NO!

Now $30-40 with a good undercard. Now we’re talking.

If all parties involved aren't run on greed then it's quite easy to afford it Bob..

It's a fight that people would like to see and Bob knows it. Throwing a number out to test the reactions is quite clever for Bob...

Sincerely hope it can happen but given the likelihood that the live gate would be severely reduced and that a lotta folk are gonna find it harder to buy a PPV I can see the issue with financing that ish. I guess the real question then will be how far either Bob or both fighters are willing to get underpaid (compared to what the fight would usually be worth) to make in happen.

Bob can overpay Fraudford, pay b class or lower trinket holders, pay faded former champs, and pay bums but can't afford to pay for a Porter fight!? Bob always has excuses when his bluff is called and he's not sure his fighter will win. I bet Bob finds his wallet for someone like Kell Brook, Collazo, or Mike Alvarado though. Crawford re-signed for Bob's protection exclusive on ESPN and not get boxing media backlash like his cherrypicking hype job ass rightfully deserves.
