I couldn’t agree more. Eubank would greatly benefit from a strong constant jab. It would set up more of his combos and also work as a defensive tool. He doesn’t have the best defense. That being said, at 30, he might be set in his ways. He loves that left hook and usually throws hooks with all sorts of right power shots. If anyone can help improve his left hook it’s going to be RJJ. I think he’s making a great choice.Comment

poor jab and weak straight right
Fantastic up close but struggles to close the distance as he lacks the two aboveComment

Yeah, a potent stiff jab would also go some way to off-setting the preferred 'stick and move' strategy used against him. I agree RJJ is a solid addition, can genuinely see Eubank listening for once.I couldn’t agree more. Eubank would greatly benefit from a strong constant jab. RJJ has that ability to communicate points really well when commentating, what a resource to tap into. Should make Eubank more fluid too, disguising his hooks/attacks more and turning defence into offence quicker.
No questioning his chin or engine, just his ability to learn and follow instruction. Hopefully he'll learn and we'll witness some fan friendly scraps in the near future.Comment

If someone could train him to use proper footwork at range instead of squaring up all the time, and use straighter punches (ramrod jab as already mentioned above), he'd be formidable. Didn't he have shoulder injury that kinda limits his ability to really straighten up his right?Comment

Eubank biggest flaw is squaring up. Groves really let him have it every time Eubank tried to engage. Just controlled the distance and bloodied him with his own jab. Idk about the shoulder but that sounds like a bad injury to have as a fighter. Might be why he’s so left hook reliant. If someone could train him to use proper footwork at range instead of squaring up all the time, and use straighter punches (ramrod jab as already mentioned above), he'd be formidable. Actually I'm sure it was an elbow injury, hence the reason he throws all his punches "bent" as they described it – might've been during the Groves fight or one of the fights before.Comment

He's referenced his issue with the jab a couple times over the years in interviews, certainly nothing new. Not sure if surgery would correct it but it does limit him a lot regarding range, offense and defence. Especially up at 168 against bigger guys with longer leavers. Just dont think any of the real top guys would have a 'fight' with him when he can be out boxed.
Maybe GGG might but I cant see why he would fight Eubank Jr.
Calum Smith at 168 is the most winnable for him imo.Comment
