But did Mayweather ever face a great body puncher?

Hatton was a very good body puncher but he didn’t have the size or skill to utilise his body punching effectively against Mayweather. (Joe Cortez didn’t help either)

Would have been interesting to see how Mayweather would have dealt with a bigger and more skilled body puncher like Spence.

Mayweather would likely have adapted and found a way to win but I think Spence gives him some problems.
jose luis castillo.....he was the best in-fighter of the late 90s-mid 2000s before his decline....all the short shots, elbows, low blows and tricks in thr world

cotto is a great body puncher as well

spence too slow and basic for floyd.....he isnt a tricky athletic southpaw like judah. stylistically i think spence wouldnt be one of his toughest opponents

I think Spence would have been the best body puncher Floyd had faced.

I would expect Mayweather by UD though. Spence’s feet are too slow.

All I was saying was Mayweather never faced anyone with a similar style to Spence so it would’ve been interesting to see how he approached it. I think he’d fight him similarly to how he fought Guerrero. A lot of movement and utilising the left hook.

TMT fans get so defensive man. I weren’t even criticising Floyd haha.

Yeah not an elite fighter but he was far from garbage. Had a very solid run at 140.

Castillo was the best body puncher he faced and he really struggled with him as is well known. Canelo did some decent body work but his output is shockingly bad. Couldn't maintain any pressure.

Yeah Canelo got the tactics terribly wrong. He tried to box with the master boxer. He got taught a lesson that night.

First he needs to stop drinking and driving. Secondly no way he beats a prime Mayweather. Money's I Q in the ring is impeccable. He can adapt to any situation if need be. One of TBE.

Hatton was bigger than Mayweather, so he had the size. I agree he didn’t have enough skills to go to the body relentlessly vs someone with the intelligence of Mayweather. Hatton could get into the body of almost fighter except Mayweather, and of course Pacquiao.

Hatton wasn’t bigger than Mayweather. I was at that fight mate. I literally seen them up close face to face at the weigh in. Mayweather is taller and longer plus Hatton was coming up in weight. Hatton couldn’t get near him from mid range with those short arms.

I’m not saying size was a defining factor or anything as Mayweather was a level above Hatton.

I feel like Spence heard Floyd is sparring again and trying to bait him into a fight. Above all else, Spence seems to love money and a fight with Floyd would be his most profitable.
