As a fan of Spence, he could never beat Floyd. He should be in his prime now, and have been 100% focused up to now. He should've been able to stop the smaller M. Garcia.

Castillo attacked the body more than most fighters and was known for that. Cotto and Canelo both have loads of body punches KOs. Same goes for Gatti although he’s not an elite fighter like those two he was still a legendary fighter (RIP).

Floyd faced every kind of style. Tall fighters, short fighters, pressure fighters, brawlers, jabbers etc. I don’t think there’s any one style to be successful against him. I think it would’ve been a close fight for a few rounds then Floyd would adjust. Kinda like the Judah and Mosley fights. It’s really the mental game that separated him from the rest. He was able to out-think his opponents and adjust to their style, then dominate them. Spence is very good but when I watch him (or any other fighter right now for that matter) I don’t see that.
Who did Maidana KO with a body shot?

None of those guys were renowned body punchers like Spence is.

The only guy who arguably was, was Hatton but he just wasn’t big enough or skilled enough to utilise those attributes against Floyd.

I’m not saying Spence would have beat Floyd but it would have been interesting to see how Mayweather would have dealt with him. As he never faced anyone with a similar style.

you dont think cotto was way past it? he never did much above 147 cept beat that crippled guy. hardly a fight. manny was just ko'd, beaten by bradley, and then lost to jeff horn. hardly a great period in his career there. also if you watch the fight back again manny lands the much cleaner punches so yeah floyd was looking old. strange decision that one but pretty meaningless when it comes to judging legacy since both guys were past it and manny was losing every other fight during htat period

Exactly. Floyd beat a huge guy with a great jab in his first title fight. Genaro Hernandez only lost to De La Hoya and Mayweather and was a great fighter (RIP). Jesus Chavez was also a very good fast pressure fighter who threw a lot of punches.

Same with Castillo. Huge lightweight. Tall guy with a jab and power? That’s Diego Corrales. Strong versatile pressure fighter? That’s Oscar De La Hoya. Southpaw with power? How about Manny Pacquiao.

You guys need to stop it the guy fought every style you can name and dominated all of them. Even the guys who made it close (Castillo, Maidana) got totally shut down in rematches.

I seriously doubt if Floyd fought “lots” of fighters in their prime like Spence with his overall skill set. I disagree about Cotto, that he is was in the same level as Spence based on “overall skill set.” But that is the only one you could think of Cotto, in comparison to Spence? Name someone else in their “prime” that Floyd fought that compares to Spence. And that wasn’t even a “prime” Cotto either. But even with a “prime” Cotto, his best wins before his fight with Floyd were against Zab Judah and Shane Mosley who both had already lost (4) times.

He busted Mayweather up in sparring apparently...Floyd would have never faced a guy that big, strong, lefty, good...at 147 would have to give Spence a chance

Too bad for Spence he can't be 100% focused with his drinking habits. He would lose just like Manny.

I think Floyd would be too quick and elusive, Errol is strong and upright he is not fast footed or fast handed he beats guys by chopping them down, I cant see anybody thats mechanical catch Floyd, its this same reason I give Manny a chance of out boxing Errol, speed and continuous movement.

But you never know Errol is a very big strong WW.
