I still cant believe Freitas quit...

Yah I know it's old news but I re-watched the whole Corrales/Freitas fight and still cant believe he quit so easily.

I mean he was hurt when he quit but it's not like it was a sustained beating for 4 or 5 rounds or anything. He was still probably winning the fight at the time of the second KD.

    Is Freitas power overrated?

No, he never planted his feet against Corrales. He knew if he stopped moving, his head was going to get knocked off. Sure enough, he ran out of gas in the 8th and got damn near decapitated. I don't approve of him quitting though. I don't care how hard Corrales hits, just stay down if you want out of the fight, but don't blatantly say no mas to the ref. Quitting is for bitches no matter if it's Vitali Klitschko, Kostya Tszyu, or Acelino Freitas. Quitting is quitting.

In retrospect, Freitas should have just planted his feet and slugged it out with Corrales. Corrales hits harder, but Freitas could have cracked his chin. I'm glad it went the way it did though.

Freitas had been dropped badly twice before the tenth round and was starting to be found more and more. Freitas is a guy with a lot of pride...he probably was ashamed that he had been hurt like this by Corrales and it ****ed with his mind.

Fighters don't owe us their lives you know. They owe it to fans to go out and give it their best shot, but Freitas probably wasn't going to improve his condition in that fight had he fought on. He very well could have sustained some serious injuries had he fought on.

His power with one shot at 135 isn't what it was at 130. He does carry pretty good power in both hands though. Part of why he's a good puncher is because he has quick hands...not so much because his raw power is devastating. He carries more Pacquiao type power than Corrales type power.

yah too much dancing on his toes and moving but there were times where some exchanges where he was planted and hit Corrales flush but Corrales didnt budge.

After he got up from the 3rd KD he could have just continued and let Corrales hit him and force a referee stoppage by TKO. At least my man Vargas never quit , lol.

thats an excuse. This is boxing...he could have stayed down or covered up and let Corrales hit him until weekes stops the fight.

Not too mention the fact that Freitas hit Corrales flush so many times and didnt move him ****ed up his confidence.

either way, he gave and took a lot in that fight. more then some fighters do in 2 or 3 fights. Thats one of my favorite fights. just an amazing action fight.

And it didnt look like he was gassed out or anything. he was definetly getting weaker, but not enought to quit. i think corrales power shots just continually connected after the first knockdown, and it frustrated freitas to the point where he just couldnt do it anymore.

How come Freitas couldn't knock Corrales down while Mayweather could. Shouldn't Freitas have more power than Mayweather.

none of those mayweather knockdowns were from power. he was far to quick and fast for corrales. Mayweather continually caught corrales off-balance and unready.

Yeah thats what i thought too. And Corrales was mostly tired from chasing Mayweather.
