Ruiz always takes on the best opponents out there and always seemed willing to take on a unification match. I can't ever envisage him beating one of the Klits, but we already know his style (as ugly as it is) has beaten the current WBC champ.

I watched Ruiz-Valuev round one again the other day (why, I cannot say....) and was impressed - for the time we're in - with Ruiz's understated skills. He's also the man in the division to give Toney the most competitive fight. Before anyone says that Rahman did, let's not forget that when Toney fought Ruiz he wasn't grossly, obscenely overweight (just very overweight) and was juiced.

I just like an underdog, I guess...

props to ruiz for taking on an opponent much tougher than the champ is willing to
I don't think Ruiz has much of a choice, he's all but forgotten, this is his only chance to get back into the picture.

Ruiz is maybe the least entertaining fighter I've seen in my life but he gets the job done. He also seems like a nice guy so I can't hate on him too much. I wouldn't be surprised if he beats Chagaev, who has some power and decent skills, but I think Ruiz will tie him up easily and win by boring UD. Chagaev's quite short and not the quickest heavyweight around.

no way, I cannot see chagaev loosing this fight, this guy is just to active to stand there and hugg and clinch th whole time, chagaev by mid round or late ko...

no, but I also knew that Ray Austin would Sultan, and he did. it takes alot to beat Ruiz, It takes a quick and durable fighter like RJJ, Toney, or pure power guy like Tua. And since the Tua fight Ruiz has changed his defense, and i don't think he's been down since.

First, Chagaev outboxed Felix Savon twice.

Second, Chagaev scored KDs on Samuel Peter in a sparring bout.

Third, Golota knocked down Ruiz twice. Recall that Golota was robbed against Ruiz.

What do you mean? First, it was a draw Second, Austin got konocked down and got woobled several times. I think Sultan was the true winner of the fight.
