Comments Thread For: Surprised Stevenson: I Thought Warrington Had A Lot Of Heart, Wanted To Fight Best

Shakur Stevenson envisioned facing Josh Warrington this summer in what would've been the biggest fight of Stevenson's career. The unbeaten WBO featherweight champion even was willing to face Warrington in the popular British boxer's hometown of Leeds, England. Stevenson viewed that title unification not only as an opportunity to add another featherweight championship to his resume, but as a chance to broaden his fan base in the United Kingdom, where boxing is very popular.

"Stevenson, a 2016 Olympic silver medalist from Newark, New Jersey, expects his next fight to mark his 130-pound debut as well.

If there’s a way that Josh Warrington is still willing to fight at 126, I’ll wait on that,” said Stevenson, who thus will hold off on vacating his WBO featherweight title. “But it’s gotta be next. Other than that, I’m moving up.'"

Is Gary Russell Jr. not an option? DC vs. Brick City? That's doesn't appeal to you? C'mon Fam! At least make an attempt!

He is talking rubbish he should have made the fight but wanted another fight before does he forgot that and now he is gone to Hearns to get better money. I used to not rate him Warrington but when he beat Selby and frampton changed my mind

Warrington said to Stevenson, "Sorry, no Can Xu". I'm mildly high and it seemed funny.

Not a big SS fan, but he is exactly right on this. Warren was his promoter and top rank was basicly his promoter as well, the fight was up for grabs and he abandoned ship.

You thought Warrington had heart, Shakur.

But you were obviously wrong about him.

I'm a fan of Josh but I'm bitterly disappointed. He had previously called out Shakur & Gary Russell. Obviously it isn't that scary to call out GRJ, he fights every 2 years & you're probably more likely to clash with a lunar eclipse.
He called out Shakur & he said yes. Come on Josh! I'd have more respect for you losing to Shakur than beating Xu Can.
