Evander Holyfield won a 15 round decision in 1986 over the Camden Buzzsaw for the WBA Jr Heavyweight title in what....his 12th or 13th fight? I recall he had never gone past 8 rounds when he did this....beating the best cruiser champ at the time in a crackin good fight.

I love it when young fighters are humble and realistic about their need to improve and get better, instead of the usual bs crap we get.. He has the right attitude and honestly, That is the only way you can truly get better.. I look forward to watching ortiz grow.. U gained another fan ortiz. Lets ride.

It's refreshing to hear a young fighter be honest and realistic about where he is right now and how long until he is a legit contender for world titles. Most young fighters nowadays (Tank, Garcia, Haney, Lopez) think they are the best in the world and would easily beat anybody which is total BS at this point in time. Sure they are trying to exude confidence and gain interest but with an arrogance like that, they could easily be put into a huge fight too earlier and ruin their chance of properly developing. I'm not for big fights marinating or waiting until the competitors and promoters can get maximum revenues but when you're still learning, like these young fighters are, it's ****** to think you will beat the best right now. I think Ortiz is taking the right fights at the right time and has many years to get the proper pro experience so he will be prepared when he fights elite competition. Dubois is another example. I don't understand how people are trashing this kid who really is a baby in heavyweight terms and was already scheduled to fight Joyce before the pandemic hit.
