Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia on Lopez, Haney, Davis: 'They Don't Impress Me'

I believe everyone is thinking with their personal opinions of Tank Davis, when talking about how he doesn't have talent. You can hate the guy, you can say he has discipline issues, he most certainly does. But he's a DAWG! And he can fight his ass off! And he might possess the most powerful punch out of anyone up to 140 even. He'll have limitations on who he can fight, and matchmaking will be important for him. But out of everyone that we're discussing in this thread, Tank would be the LAST one of them that I would wanna fight in a bar.Comment

A lot of people picked Commey because he was a proven fighter. I thought that Lopez had his hands full and could potentially loose. Judging how quite they were through out the whole process because usually they are so outspoken started to give me doubts about Lopez.
Nobody expected this type of performance from Lopez. This was like the performance that Fury put on Wilder on the second fight. Nobody really expected it. Very impressive.Comment

Are you talking about his sparring? Because yeah i seen him live in a lackluster UD. He looked mediocre and nowhere near the talent u claim. Maybe im wrong but I think hes smoke in mirrors.Comment

Haney seems to be the most gifted in the most areas. He is well schooled and he is very, very, very smart. For those reasons his opponents look ordinary and lose by TKO or by noncompetitive margins. Haney had the tools and looks similar to some of the great boxers like Ray Lenard. What remains to be seen is how he'll respond when he runs into serious adversity, the 800lb gorilla, his Tommy Hearns? Does Haney have it in him to find a way on the fly, in the moment to create like Floyd????
Shifting gears, I personally don't like it when guys pronounce their greatness and also why they can't fight stiff competition. I understand the promotional side but I've noticed in nearly every case their well crafted persona seems abandon them during adversity and that is the single biggest difference between Ryan Garcia and Oscar. Oscar was a killer with a smile. On the other hand I get pissed when I see Spence speak from both sides and I point it out...BUT, there is a difference. Spence actually knows it's BS, you can tell it's not what he wants or believes but what he's forced to do for the good of the management.
As for Lopez, he's a guy you have got to beat because he believes without question in what he can do. Like Haney, Lopez will fight anybody...although there does seem to be some hesitation when it comes to Devin Haney.
Davis is a super talented guy with an equalizer and fast hands but he's not cerebral. Davis is a great fighter but simply not smart. Davis does have the Albert Einstein of boxing, Floyd knows problematic styles and he'll keep Davis away and winning.
In the end, all of these guys are great and for the moment they are all in the same division and all would be a tough outing. I suspect Lopez, Haney and Garcia will need to move up soon because they are big for the division.
Keep in mind, these are just my observations, I look for patterns. If I see a new wrinkle I have no problem changing my opinion based upon what I see in the ring.Comment

I think Floyd needs a relationship with Eddie Hearn (for Tank's sake) ASAP! He's already at odds with Arum and Oscar, and I don't see that getting any better, anytime soon! If Floyd were smart, he and Eddie could ask the WBC to make Haney vs. Davis for the WBC LW title! Fortuna vs. Campbell could be the co-main event, and the winners meet next!Comment
