Just in general...if you make a claim against someone, your argument will be bolstered if you provide evidence to back up that claim...if you accuse someone of something, and then say you don't have (or don't care to provide) the evidence, then it makes your argument look weak...just friendly advice.
I don't claim to be an expert on that era...but I have watched those guys on film...and I have perused their resumes as well...
I don't think they are in different universes.
As I mentioned in that thread, I think both Nelson and Fenech got propped up somewhat because of where they came from...there are not many great African or Australian boxers...so being one of the best boxers in those categories will prop you up some...that's how I see it...I don't see this tremendous level from them on film or resume-wise.
Again to me it is similar to if you had a competitive guy in modern times from China or Saudi Arabia...if they were any good at all they would get a lot of praise and probably get overrated a bit.
As for Jacobs, I would say 40-60 likelihood he makes it...meaning he has to overachieve right now relative to expectations from here on out to make it...I do think his beating cancer angle and coming back to be a champion will look very very good for him as time goes on and will prop him up similar to those guys being propped up, so they don't have a leg up on him there...but he would probably be an entrant only after some time if he does get in...he probably needs at least to win a belt at 168 and probably some other accomplishment in addition to that.
For reference here is a list of boxing hall of famers...most of these guys are not exactly household names...a lot of guys end up getting in.
