Is Loma held to a higher standard?

In his second professional fight, Lomachenko lost to a multi-time boxing champion Orlando Salido.

Since then, Lomachenko has become a three division champion, is on the verge of becoming undisputed lightweight champion and has defeated multiple p4p type fighters.

But whenever someone wants to discredit his p4p status, Salido is brought up.

Yet, I don’t ever see people bring up Canelo Alvarez’s draw to Jorge Juarez as a knock on his p4p credentials. I also don’t ever see people bring up Juan Francisco Estrada’s loss to Juan Carlos Sanchez. I also see Manny Pacquiao being ranked in the top 10 p4p by most, if not all, respected boxing publications. It was pretty much yesterday when he lost to Jeff Horn. Why is he forgiven for that loss is Lomachenko doesn’t get a pass for his loss?

Only the trolls bring up Salido. Virtually any fighter in history would struggle against a fighter of the calibre of Salido in their second fight.

Super fans tend to tear down fighters they fear are a threat to their favorite boxers legacy or are just better than their guy.

Loma is a phenomenal talent and his first 15 opponents is better than most guys entire resumes.

loma is the truth but he aint doing nothing fighters in the past have done, there are so many great fighters that came prior to this era. Those same moves he does, Orlando Canizales did them as an orthodox fighter and he didnt show boat with it either....his footwork was beautiful to watch

Canelo has almost 60 fights as a pro. Estrada has over 40 pro fights. Manny has almost 70. Loma has 14. I think any reasonable person understands the more fights you have, the less impact 1 fight has on your career because of the volume of fights.

Additionally, don't forget Loma was favored to beat Salido. He lost because he lacked pro experience against a dirty, nasty brawler.

I think it is completely legitimate to assess that loss differently If you have only 14 pro fights when compared with someone that has 3-5 times as many fights.

Crawford gets clipped in his last fight and the sky is falling. Being held to a higher standard when you’re on top will always be a thing.

Crawford is a great fighter. But his lack of defense makes Bowe blush.

He’s a great fighter but he’s yet to climb to the heights of Robinson, Armstrong, Ali, Leonard, Jones and so on... and he probably never will tbh, I think he lacks a natural rival to truly challenge him like a LaMotta, Frazier, Duran etc.

Canizales is the guy I’d most compare him to as well, both used pivots and footwork perfectly to control a fight.

"multiple p4p type fighters"...not sure what that means....i guess if you wanna called an old dragged up rigo that ill let it slide....an inactive walters who basically retired at 30 years old or whatever....i mean....gary russell jr is a good win and i guess you could say hes a p4p type of fighter but hes never really been rated one

loma is a very good fighter no doubt....but theres a certain type that wants to come here and call him some ATG that beats any other fighter in his class...theyll come here and tell you how hed whip a young, prime, floyd and all of that......when you do that you open yourself up to see loma held to a higher standard.....if people would stop using loma to put others down he probably would be left alone

ill be interested to see how loma closes out the next couple of years....if he were to take out lopez and say either haney or stevenson(or both) in the process id be pretty impressed no matter how "green" some might say those guys are...the type of fights he takes will tell us alot...if he came out of that with some W's id be very impressed

Even then the whole place was shocked.
