Yes indeed. I thought I would use the shorter and less formal name.

No, "American" is a national identity more than it is a cultural identity. There is no single American cultural identity. By way of example, the culture of the lower classes in the Bronx bears little resemblance to the culture of brahmins of Boston or Manhattan and much less to the culture of the Navajos of the Four Corners. The latter probably has the only real claim to being "American".

So Benevides is a double American -- South American on his mother's side and North American on his father's.

Yeah he also has Cuban blood. People get so worked up only because they don't have anybody to relate or look up to so they just get jealous like Silver Spear they have no cultural identity themselves and act like American is a culture and not a nationality go to Nebraska and then go to Florida you tell me if the people share the same culture.

That's why they aren't called Aztecs or Spaniards...they are called Mexicans.
What Mexicans are is tough and resilient. Same goes for many other ethnical groups.

That is what makes American Culture its culture. Your argument can be said about any country. Different locations have different cultures. America is different than any other country in the fact that it is a melting pot of the world. It is not just one culture that is dominant etc. Any immigrant has just as much claim to being American as any Navajo or any tribe has.
