Ah here how could you give Canelo the first?

With commentary, the different broadcasts I've watched seemed to have the same approach...fawn over the good work Canelo did in spurts, and then when GGG responds with about 5 unanswered shots, they are still talking about Canelo lol...and then when Canelo inevitably lands again, the cycle continues.

When you outland a dude by 30+ punches, and outland him in 2/3rds + rounds, and you are each hitting each other about as hard as one another...and no one gets hurt/dropped.

I mean how can anyone say that guy wasn't in the fight lol...idk just weird...I don't really care, but to see a few guys itt saying GGG 'clearly' lost fight 2, lol...I mean wut.

Personally it seems like maybe those who don't really like Canelo or GGG like to split those fights...since it kind of slights both guys in that way...to be fair though there are some who like Canelo who split both (though anyone who has Canelo truly up 2-0 or even 1-0-1 is nuts, no offense), and some even who like GGG who say the 2nd fight was fairly close.

And Canelo was definitely better in the 2nd fight...but his problem vs GGG is GGG is considerably more active than him...so even when Canelo does great work in spurts, he is getting outworked usually the rest of the round, and you have to score GGG's work too.
GGG still looked like Hellen Keller. If he was a Baskeyball Player his nickname would of been BRICK CITY!!!

I still don’t understand why so many ppl ignore Defense, Combos, and body work. But that just me. I guess other like jabber walkers who miss around 80%.

I hope to never here you say Leo Santa Cruz should have any losses. I mean he throws just as much but actually lands wayyyy more...

I don’t score fights off of compubox sorry..:

Second fight alvarezs output increased but ggg still outlanding and more consistent i had it 7 - 5 ggg.

In before canelo nut huggers storm in, i admire alvarezs skill and change of tactics in the rematch but i feel he did not produce a dominant enough performance to take the belts.
Why do you credit GGG for his constant pressure in the first fight, but not canelos constant pressure in the second?

First fight Ggg won. Second fight you could make a case for draw but I thought Ggg won

9 rounds into the second fight and I have it 6-3 to GGG, Canelo doesn't throw enough plain and simple. He's got such a low volume output and his feet are so flat. How can people give the fight to him? I do not know.

Canelo only won the third, sixth, seventh and twelfth. Seriously guys it was a clear 8-4 or 7-5 since the first could've gone either way. There is not a chance you can give Canelo more than six rounds without being very biased. I'm not a GGG fanboy. I thought he only won against Derev by the skin of his teeth, this fight was much easier for him than the Derev fight.

Really...I think GGG is really clean when he lands...especially with the jab...easy for me to score because you see the opponent's head bounce back..and if his jab isn't a 'power punch' idk what is.

1st fight GGG was on the front foot and Canelo was largely moving around...2nd fight, was largely fought in the center of the ring with neither guy really moving backwards...of course there was some circling going on but the only round where GGG really boxed off the back foot was round 5.

Which was one of GGG's clearest rounds btw...and it highlights the main point...which is to say you aren't scoring styles in there, you are scoring the punches that land and their effectiveness...round 5 Canelo was backing GGG up, but GGG landed more shots and better shots...so you have to give him that round.

I never bothered to score this fight round by round before but Canelo very clearly lost. He must have the worst gas tank ever because he doesn't throw enough, anytime he let his hands go aplenty he won a round.

Been meaning to sit down and do this properly at some point but it's harder that you might imagine during lockdown with the kids running around and Ms Koba finding an endless stream of DIY and odd jobs to keep me busy..

Thing is I ain't actually scored it except a loose rough n ready impression at the time, so I'm interested to go back and do a proper breakdown and see whether my take has changed any. I have watched it since without scoring and my impression has been much like I saw it originally - that there was a lot of very close rounds and neither guy really did anything to dominate, either the individual rounds or the whole fight. A whole lot of very good cerebral work going on behind the scenes as it were, with neither guy really willing to give up anything or hand any advantages to the other... high level chess, man.
