Teofimo Lopez had big plans for 2020. He was scheduled to face WBA/WBO/WBC Franchise lightweight champion in a unification bout on May 30th and then planned on moving up to 140 pounds to test out the waters in a new division.

He sounds like a smart kid every time he talks. I can't see this fight happening any more though, ir if it does, its lost its sparkle as by the time it happens Teo will be weak enough at 135 that he will be like Brook vs Spence, energy to stay competitive for 6 rounds, then have nothing left.

The pinched nerve in his back stopped him exercising for weeks and he's now at the heaviest he's ever been at 160, with only minimal workout facilities in Arkansas. As he said, he couldn't see himself making 135 in 2020, and the only thing that would keep him boiling down to 135 would be a crack at Loma, then on to 140.

Now that the fight will be end of 2020 at the bery earliest, even if Teo makes 135 he will be drained, and as we know, Loma makes opponents fight at a higher pace than they are used to, so Teo will have s punchers chance over the first 6 and then unravel

I suspect he would take the Bellew option (vs Usyk) where Bellew fought at a 6 round pace (ie a pace he knew he could only maintain for 6) vs Usyk, which gave him an advantage over 6, but pretty much meant that unless he won by then, it was a loss.

Shame, could have been a fun fight if it had happened when it was supposed to.

How ****ing ****** and selfish is this family? Put your differences aside so Teofimo can maximize his success.

I think Lopez has the potential to be a star but he needs to distance himself from his family and focus on boxing because if they really cared about what's best for him they wouldn't be causing drama while he's in camp and his father would step aside to allow a more experienced trainer to take him to the next level.
