Joshua Ruiz first fight no fluke

Ruiz had one of the most uncontroversial upset wins in recent times. If there was any controversy it would be that Joshua was allowed to continue after turning his back on the ref and walking to the corner. Ruiz got up after being down and took a few tremendous shots from Joshua. This showed a lot of heart by Ruiz. Joshua went down four times and showed the same heart, but was simply beaten down and knew it was not his night. Both fighters were conditioned. The rounds before the knockdowns were close which is common for the feeling out process. No head butts, low blows or biting. It was simply a great fight, especially for a heavyweight fight and even better when you look at the odds of Ruiz winning.

It was a great fight and Ruiz has a hell of a chin. But Ruiz disappointed fans in second fight, that is why he is not getting a credit anymore.

No fluke at all, and not so sure why it was a major “Upset”. For me it wasn’t a major upset. If you follow the actual boxing and not the hypes or names then you can forsee it happening. I remember when all the Wilder fans on here were writing the fight off, telling us how they should just get it over with, and how it was a terrible fight, I wasn’t so convince that they follow the sport.

I saw Ruiz in two fights after the announcement, the Joseph Parker fight in NZ and the Joe Hank fight in Macau, I was so taken back by the way Ruiz handled Hank, you see Hank had the same physical built as Joshua and I just knew he (Joshua) could get a beat down in the same way Hank did.

I saw Parker basically choosing to move a lot and jab once he saw the power and speed that Ruiz had in his hands and I just knew he would be an handful for Joshua. So no the fight wasn’t a fluke. The easiest fights for Joshua are the taller HW, not shorter guys like Povetkin or Ruiz, Joshua then has to lower his body frame to connect with those shorter guys, he was doing that a lot against Povetkin and I thought he was going to get stopped in that fight too.

Ruiz has serious potential. Andy should link up w/ either Canelo Team, Robert Garcia idk Nacho Beristan maybe

No fluke. Ruiz capitalized on a weakness Joshua has been flaunting for awhile.

It was no fluke. He beat a guy who was ill-prepared for his style. But the Josh that showed up in the rematch beats any version of Ruiz.

It was a fluke, Joshua didn't take him seriously and got caught with a one in a million shot. He won 12 out of 12 rounds in the rematch and made it look easy, something people still can't come to terms with.

Joshua has always had trouble with shorter fighters like Povekin and Parker. Ruiz probably has a better chin and no doubt faster hands than they do. If Joshua was not taking him seriously he would not have been going for the knockout in the first fight and would have just cruised thru 12 rounds. Joshua knew going into the first fight that he was in trouble. Some of his sparring partners had been in the ring with Ruiz and knew he was the real deal. Joshua did not redeem himself by running in the second fight. Any real fighter that lost like Joshua did in the first fight would want to go out with a knockout. It doesn't make Joshua less of a man than Fury, Wilder and Ruiz, but they would all go for a knokout if they were Joshua in the second Ruiz fight. Those three are real fighters.

He won the rematch 12 0. Who cares about a knockout, its a good job Joshua didn't try and impress you guys on the forum by slugging it out in the middle of the ring. Basically you like a lot of other posters are upset that he won and made it look easy when everyone had their popcorn ready thinking ruiz was his boogeyman and Joshua was mentally broken. Well only one mentally broken now is wilder
