Comments Thread For: Mayweather: I Will Be One of The Best Trainers in The World

Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has made a decision to explore the scenario of being a boxing trainer in order to follow in the footsteps of his late uncle Roger Mayweather. Roger Mayweather died in March. A former world champion himself, he trained his nephew for 34 of his 50 professional fights - turning Floyd into the best pound-for-pound fighter of his generation.

Agreed, he certainly should be. Though I imagine he won’t be cheap

He's working with people with no experience which is perfect.

He needs to make mistakes as a trainer and learn and grow from them, just like they do.

He has the brains for it, a lot of knowledge to give. However don't know how a fighter will gel with a trainer who is as attention hungry as Floyd. You know he'd like to make every victory they earn about him. Just how Floyd is.

He COULD be a massive asset for any up and coming fighter wanting to take on the world.. there would be no better to knowledge wise from ex boxers in your corner but I just couldn't see Mayweather let anyone have the limelight over him.. I can see an interview right now where a fighter is about to give his winners speech and Mayweather jumps in and tells em it's all about him and only won because of his tactics.. he would totally undermine the fighters...

God Bless him. He will be! I am impressed with his purpose and direction in life. This guy could go down as the most influencial person on the artform and skill set of boxing. I can't believe I'm writing this. I am inspired.

He would be a terrible trainer as he has no interest in anyone else other than himself. Just look at his promotional company (funnily enough named after himself) where he spent more time promoting himself then his damn fighters. Being a trainer is just another way of Floyd getting some attention.
