Totally respect this opinion. Lot of truth here. My own reasons for discussing the whole thing isn’t whether Duran would’ve won or not, rather to get to the bottom of whether he was telling the truth about why he quit. I don’t really give Ray any less credit if Duran didn’t train properly. It’s also interesting, to me at least, the ensuing myth that Leonard was so dominant over Roberto that he was made to quit. Just not the way I see it.

- -My dining info comes from the then NY commish at the weighin and in the dressing room whose name escapes me, maybe Randy Gorden?
Duran charged into the dressing room for a beeline to the pot where the sound and fury produced can only be describe as Duranesque!Comment

Leonard deserves credit for beating Duran; it wasn’t his problem Roberto did what he did. But I don’t think Duran lied. I think he genuinely had stomach issues. There was no other reason for him to quit. Ray just wasn’t that much better that night. He just wasn’t.Comment

Duran landed plenty of punches, as evidenced, among other things, by the judges’ scores.

i haven't watched the 2nd fight in ages but from what i remember ray was boxing his @ss easy, wasn't even close as duran couldn't land anything.Comment

duran is lucky he didn't live in the social media era, can u imagine if pac/floyd quit a fight because of 'stomach problems'? even if he did have issues it is completely his fault, as a fighter u have to be disciplined.

Part of the point of my thread is that the fight was nowhere near the dominant performance from Leonard many think it was. Seems the only thing people remember is that seventh round, and the “no más” that followed. It was, in actuality, a close fight.Comment
