At his best, Roberto Duran might have been the greatest fighter pound for pound ever recorded, from prime to finish. We've never seen Harry Greb on film in live action. There are only snippets of Sam Langford. Big chunks of the best years of Henry Armstrong and Ezzard Charles are unavailable and the welterweight years of Ray Robinson are largely left to legend.

This is one of the greatest fights of all time. Anyone who hasn't seen it should do. Not only a great fight but a great performance from RD, way above his natural weight and at 38 years old.

I love Duran as one of the best ATGs, but I have Ali ranked higher.

        my fave Fight ever

Quick Note: The writer said make a case for Duran being the greatest LIVING fighter ever. Duran’s win over Barkley is my favorite all time fight ever. A last Hurrah and am awesome performance agains a way bigger, Stronger, younger Barkley who had just beaten Hearns. As for Duran he is top 5 all time great...Robinson and Ali are top 2 of course. And I believe no lightweight could beat Duran ag his best and that the night he beat Leonard he would have given even Sugar Ray Robinson hell.

This was a terrific fight, with Duran painting one last masterpiece.

I agree that he is the greatest living fighter. Wish someone would film a boxing instructional video series with him while he is still with us.

Record all his boxing knowledge, from the basics to advanced, for posterity's sake.

if you are talking straight up talent and skills he is probably the greatest ever. I cant think of a more savvy fighter than him. I can think of fighters that are better at certain things, but not the entire package.

Ray Robinson is the other name that comes up but its also because Robinson was also a very tough and durable fighter who was physically gifted, tall in his weight class and strong. Duran seem to do everything so effortlessly.

the greatest living fighter that's a no brainer he easily takes the cake by a landslide

I was a Barkley supporter. I feel he is one of those fighters who was a maybe 2-3 victories from being great.

Duran sure did stamp his legacy with this one, if he actually needed to or not.. I remember it, but I have never watched it.

I've always said Duran is the greatest fighter of the modern age, with Muhammad Ali a close 2nd
