Why did Kell Brook not take the fight with Manny Pacquiao?

I remember years ago he was in line for a shot at Manny Pacquiao for a WBO title, but decided not to take it.

Fast forward a few years and he goes up to middleweight to take on a more vicious foe in Gennady Golovkin.

What was his thought process here, did he fight GGG because he wanted to upstage Khan fighting Canelo?

It was a very strange moment in boxing. Is Brook that obsessed with Khan?

I think you could be right regarding both boxers.. Kel and Amir seemed to want to upstage each other by whatever means necessary.

Moving onto GGG probably was along your thought process and it seems that both didn't mind taking fights and losing (yes I know they wanted to win) so long as they weren't fighting/losing to each other.

Imo a fights never happened between them because so much bile has been spread for such a long time that both of them couldn't handle losing to one another....

I mentioned in another thread that once retirement is near on confirmed there's a good chance they will both run off to Saudi Arabia for a massive pay day and try pass it off as a mega fight the world wants to see, when in fact it's well past it just like both boxers.....

What is the story behind these guys. its very odd. Its like Brook is chasing Khan and Khan is teasing and enjoys not giving him the fight.

Im thinking Brook didnt take the Pacquiao fight at the time because he didnt want to take a chance of losing because he wanted that Khan fight still.

So when Brook saw Khan get knocked cold by Canelo, he decided wht do I got to lose ill go up and fight GGG and do better than Khan to upstage him.

From what Im seeing its basically Brook wanting to fight Khan and Khan giving him the run around and saying nope.

Whether it goes something beyond what's out in the public domain I don't know. It's not like they are both from the same town or anything either. Did Khan genuinely believe he was a step above Kel which left him hanging or was it the hype surrounding khan at the time that caused Kel to chase and want a piece of?

It was definitely a strange set up from all parties regarding them both because the easy option you would have thought was to sort a fight out and let em at each other...

The only twist missing now is in about 10 years time both come out as being best buddies and used it to boost profiles.....

If they were best buds they would be pictured with each other and couldn't escape it. What im thinking is beef that started in their teens, and pride kicking in.

Reminds me of that Junior Witter vs Ricky Hatton beef, Hatton kept denying Witter a shot, and brushed him off. Witter eventually lost to Tim Bradley and the Hatton Witter UK showdown never happened

Quite possibly right that it stems from the junior ranks. The buddies remark was more tongue in cheek with what's gone on before with no explanation...

Good shout on Witter n Hatton btw

Hi hectari nice to see u

They tried to upstage the other.

In the year 2016: Brook moved up to face GGG

Also in 2016: Khan moves up to face Canelo

                    Both got wrecked
