Been too close to domestic violence to find BJSs shit in the slightest bit funny. watching my mam get hit trying to protect me, got my stepdaughter currently due in court after she got ****d, my niece finally got away from a relationship in where she was getting battered on the regular last year... And that's not even to get started on the chicks I've known on the street or in rehab or whatever.... got stories that would make y'all sick to your stomachs.

Thing is humour's great human survival mechanism, it helps us deal with difficult shit, tragedy, horrific occurances, whatever... helps us normalise stuff. We all quite sure we want domestic violence normalising?

Maybe ask your mum, or your daughters or your girlfriend if watching Saunders make jokes about hitting women makes her feel safer and more secure whilst she's out and about... what do you reckon she's gonna say? You gonna tell her she should lighten up cos it's just a bit of fun?

I don't understand modern "British" culture.

When someone who "ought to know better!" makes an inappropriate joke there's zero tolerance & mass outrage.

When a **** gang films themselves effectively killing a girl without finishing her off and are sentenced to 90 days of public service, the same people mumble into their shirt sleeve about how it's not their place to comment.

Time to recalibrate.

Laugh at jokes and crack down on actual abusers. Right now the reactions have practically converged.

Fair enough, man, I still ain't seeing the funny side. What are your feelings on jokes about lynching black dudes or gassing ***s? Guess it's a matter of where you draw the line, huh? I reckon perhaps where you draw that line has something to do with your life experiences perhaps.

Thing is I get it, there's none of us not wanted to lay one on our partners at some point and done in the right way it might have been funny. Mighta been something most women could appreciate too, even, cos I know full well Ms K woulda just loved to lay me out on plenty of occasions. But it wasn't. Least not the way I saw it.

That said, I ain't necessarily an advocate of this being the responsibility of the sports authorities - the BBBoC or the WBC or whatever, however tasteless. It's not my feeling that moral stewardship is really part of their remit.

Yeah, I think Saunders' main issue was that his skit wasn't funny enough. If he had ended the video with something like his missus coming in and knocking him out cold with a big frying pan, he probably could've gotten away with it.

As for jokes about gassing ***s and lynching black people, it's not off-limits for me, but it depends on the context. Obviously, Saunders is not a great comedian because great comedians are able to take taboo topics and make them funny, but he has just dug himself another hole... as usual.

As for boxing bodies, the only thing they have any legitimate say on is boxing and even then, it's debatable!

You know what was interesting, I was talking about this story to someone who is the daughter of a boxer who did used to beat up the mum, and this person said they found the video quite funny. But then they also reckoned that Billy shouldn't have made the video precisely because of the historically massive problem that exists with boxers abusing their partners. That is, she thought Billy should know better. So, I don't know how I feel actually

On the one hand, I don't want to be censoring the fighters, and censuring them when they're just being silly

On the other hand, it's important that this issue is treated properly, maybe something like how racism has been tackled in football (Fat Yanks: soccer)

I edited my post above slightly to kinda point out that maybe context is relevent here too. Like I said, if you or NC or MulaKO or someone had made a similar kinda crack I would understand the spirit in which it's to be taken. If a *** does a skit about the holocaust, or a black dude makes a joke about lynching it can be cool. When you got Saunders a kinda known misogynist and bully making jokes on social media about beating women it just doesn't play the same to me.
