    Fights you must watch

What are some fights that any self-respecting boxing fan must have watched?

Obviously there are thousands probably, but let's say the top 10 or 20 memorable fights

Rumble in the Jungle would be number one for me ('rope a dope')

    a few others:

Duran v Leonard II ('no mas')
Tyson v Holyfield II (the ear incident)
    Gatti v Ward I (that 9th round)

A lot of times I see these kind of lists, they kind of miss the point, including fights like Mayweather v Pacquiao which imo is not a must-see fight, yes it was a momentous occasion but what did we learn, what did we see.. not a lot.

    **

OK so here's the list of fights that people have mentioned in this thread

    Jeffries-Johnson (1910)

    Louis-Schmeling II (1938)

    Robinson-Fullmer II (1957)

    Clay-Liston (1964)

    Ali-Foreman (1974)
    Foreman-Lyle (1976)
    Zarate-Zamora (1977)

    Sanchez-Lopez II (1980)
    Duran-Leonard II (1980)
    Leonard-Hearns I (1981)
    Sanchez-Gomez (1981)
    Arguello-Pryor I (1982)
    Chacon-Boza Edwards II (1983)
    Hagler-Hearns (1985)
    Duran-Barkley (1989)

    Chavez-Taylor (1990)
    Morrison-Hipp (1992)
    Benn-McClellan (1995)
    Tyson-Holyfield II (1997)

    Barrera-Morales I (2000)
    Mayweather-Corrales (2001)
    Gatti-Ward I (2002)
    Jirov-Toney (2003)
    Marquez-Austin (2003)
    V. Klitschko-Sanders (2004)
    Castillo-Corrales I (2005)
    Marquez-Vasquez III (2008)
    Maidana-Ortiz (2009)

    Pacquiao v Marquez IV (2012)

Inoue and Donaire is a must...2019 FOTY but it wasnt just high action it was high skill also and for the WBS championship.

I cant think of a better fight in the past 10 years.

Canelo/GGG 2 was as competitive but not as decisive which kind of spoils the fight.
Floyd Canelo was a masterpiece but 1-sided...same with Floyd Manny
Spence and Porter was good but Porter is such a spoiler it's hard to get into his fights ever although it was a fun fight

Inoue Donaire was the best fight in the 2010s. Seriously

Naaaahh! Pac vs marquez III was the worst of the series. It had little drama compared to the rest. Pac was just frustrated to reach marquez the entire time. He was just upping his workrate to make up for getting outboxed.

Pac vs marquez IV is a must see.
        And pac vs marquez II.

Pac JMM 1 was also a classic.

Coming back from FOUR KDs in the 1st round...people were expecting it to end inside 3 rounds. Incredible comeback and adjustments and tenacity by JMM...1, 2, and 4 are must see imo

            For in ring action:
            Gatti-Ward 1
            Corrales-Castillo 1
            Barrera-Morales 1

            For historical significance:
            Johnson-Jeffries
            Clay-Liston
            Louis-Schmelling 2

For elite level action or pure excellence:
            Pacquiao-Marquez series
            Leonard-Hearns 1
            Robinson-Fullmer 2

There are honestly too many tbh.

As others have said, I don't think the third is the must-see of the series, for me it would be the fourth (so many memes), or maybe the first

              Ideally, watch them all!

The Barrera-Morales trilogy is another good series where it's difficult to pick one

With Gatti-Ward I would say the first fight is the must-see, since the others were not as competitive

Thanks for these, yeah there are too many really! I haven't watched Clay-Liston in aaages, need to watch that again soon

Fullmer, he had what looks like the worst jab ever, I saw it described as someone opening a door, but I love his shoulder-dip thing he did to get inside

                    Yeah so many...

The opening the door comparison is hilarious.😂

I only put that one in there because Robinson throws what has been acclaimed as “the perfect punch”. Ray was past his best by that point as well.
