    Tyson

Only a prime Clay would have beaten a prime(1988) Tyson.

Clay could not even make it past Henry Cooper. Stopped inside of 4 rounds.

Alot of people on here talk about Ali in the earlier part of his career when he was in like early mid 20's like he was invinciable. What is the fight or fights which make you think that.

Some people will say Sonny Liston but before Ali's bout with way past his prime contender Zorah Folley Ali admits that he is no power puncher, he goes on to list the men that he had stopped in the ring and he does not mention liston.

Zora Folley by the way was the last fighter Ali fought before his layoff.

The Ali that beat Cleveland Williams was a thing of beauty. True, Williams had been gutshot and was past his best; but he was still a dangerous fighter as "the punch" is the last thing to go. It was how Ali fought him, how precise and accurate and blindingly fast he was that night. That Ali was as close to fistic perfection as the Louis that beat Schmeling and the Tyson that beat Spinks.

Also, in regards to Ali's punching power....while he was never a big puncher, he was a better puncher during his first career. His hands were always troublesome after his comeback in that they hurt him to the point taht Pachecho shot him up with novacane between each knuckle to combat his bursitus so that he could punch with impunity.
