Since when? It's called FOTY not elite boxers fight of the year. I don't care if its 2 bums fighting in a ring in the street as long as its entertaining and its boxing it can be FOTY. Furthermore this fight was totally amazing and was a high quality fight that was also really exciting. This fight is on the level of a Gatti-Ward bout, and as has already been mentioned these guys are actually more highly regarded in their division than either Gatti or Ward at the time of their fight.

Not only that, but this fight was for the WBA title. It was a title fight.

When you think about how so many people are throwing out Brewster vs Lyakovich, it's quite funny to hear this fight scoffed at.
