What are your fight of the year canidates so far???????????????

Why in thw world are people picking wright - taylor or tarver - hopkins? They were both rather boring fights in my opinion.

Lacy - Calzaghe was way too one sided to even be mentioned. Lacy was outclassed times a billion, thats not FotY material.

Malignaggi - Cotto was a hell of a fight but that is due more to the WTF factor in that Malignaggi fought the complete opposite of was expected and did well.

I dont think this fight will win but its better than most of the fights that have been recommended in this thread but Juarez - Barerra was entertaining.

Taylor/Wright & Tarver/Hopkins might have been lackluster but they were great fights, but I'd have to agree my choice would be Barrera/Juarez

The fights I can think of off the top of my head that I really enjoyed would be.......Brewster/Lyakovich , Winky/Taylor , Barrera/Jaurez and I am sure there are many more I just can't think of them at the moment.

Once again, they are top rated in their division, and well known in their own countries.

Ward and Gatti had this distinction several times, and they are FAR from Elite level.

If Ward and Gatti can be fight of the year, so can these guys. They are easilly higher ranked in their own division than either Ward or Gatti was at the time of their fights.

Being ignorant to who they are doesn't make their fight any less astonishing.

Since when? It's called FOTY not elite boxers fight of the year. I don't care if its 2 bums fighting in a ring in the street as long as its entertaining and its boxing it can be FOTY. Furthermore this fight was totally amazing and was a high quality fight that was also really exciting. This fight is on the level of a Gatti-Ward bout, and as has already been mentioned these guys are actually more highly regarded in their division than either Gatti or Ward at the time of their fight.
