I remember being on pins and needles the whole fight thinking Pac was gonna get knocked out cold. Margarito landed some hellacious shots on Pac especially when he occasionally had him trapped on the ropes . I don't think we've ever seen a guy with that much of a size, reach, and weight disadvantage dish out such a shellacking for an entire 12 round fight.
Pac was never the same after this fight though. The fight took him out of his prime for sure. It was definitely the last time I saw him throw 5-6 punch combinations over and over and over & Margarito was getting hit with all of them. He coulda called it a career after that & I don't think anyone wouldve batted an eye. Who woulda thought he'd be still kicking ass 10 years later.
2008-2010 Pac beats almost everyone if not literally everyone at 140-154 today. Bud gives him his toughest fight but I don't even think Bud could handle the output, speed & ferocity Pac was dishing out
I don't believe that at all
Margarito was not even a JMW, let alone a TOP fighter
there is a reason why Pac refused to fight Martinez at 150, and Cotto at 154
Pac's cap was 150, against that level of fighter... immediately prior to the fight, Pac said he would fight anyone at 150... but immediately after that fight, Pac said he would never fight at that weight again
Mayweather reigned at 154 because of his style/skills

Ali must have been on roids too his whole career then.

2. I wouldn't say Floyd reigned at 54. I think he could have if he was willing to take the damage the bigger cats would have layed on him but he made it clear he had no interest in that. I think Floyd had the skills to go a step further and get a title at 160 even if it was just a 1-off like Manny at 150. He fought Cotto post Pac & Margarito thrashings & fought Canelo at 152.
Floyd also wanted no parts of Margarito (Floyd would have won but might have gotten hurt in the process) or Sergio either. (Would have been an amazing fight)Last edited by Bronx23; 03-28-2020, 06:17 PM.

It's funny how Floyd fanatics keeps on living the fantasy that Pacman's on the juice when the man has never been tested negative. They seem like the same people that believes that the Earth is flat and Corona is just like normal flu.
I can still remember the legendary statement from Pac during this Margarito fight. He refused to went for the kill and was asking the Ref to stop it. He said boxing is just sport and they were not supposed to kill each other. He could have permanently blinded Marg if he kept on pounding his already swollen face.Rec28 likes this.
